Upgrade using existing XP harddrive

Hello!

I am sure this has been answered, but I used the search function and couldn't find anything to match my situation.

I have a Tivo Series 2, standalone. I have one brand new, still in the static bag, WD 120GB HD (the special edition with the 8MB cache) that I want to use as the new TivoA drive. I also have a hard drive that I am currently using in a PC that is the same make and model. I would like to use this as the TivoB drive to give me a total of 240GB of space.

Given the concerns I have read about the problems that XP can cause, I am wondering how to go about cleaning this drive so that I can use it in my Tivo. Is an fdisk & fdisk/mbr enough? Or this plus a low level format? Does MFSTools have a way to fix this?

Thanks!
Tim

You don't need to do anything. The blessing process will take care of it. It's not that a drive that had XP on it is cursed or anything.

Cletus is correct. The problem occurs when you have a Tivo-formatted drive in your pc when XP is booted.

Pardon me if this has already been asked.

I have a similiar situation. I just bought a DTV HDVR2 last week and I have XP. If I boot from the Mfstools CD boot disk can I write my backup to the C: drive when its formatted to NTFS?

Or will I need to use something like Partition Magic to create a partition in FAT32 for the backup?

Thanks in advance for any help.
