Newbie- Mac OSX and TiVo

Recently found a posting for sending files from the TiVo to my Mac.

It requires that I have Telnet, FTP and an Ethernet card.

Questions are-
Is the ethernet card from 9thTee the card of choice?
If so, once I get that, how/where do I get the FTP & Telnet going on the TiVo side.

Additionally, I currently have a DSL connection at home. What else might I need? a router? If so, what is a cheap one.

any help appreciated.

Jerry

Okay Jerry, I'm going to give you the read the forums archive lecture. We all got it, now it's your turn. Read the forums. All the answers to your questions have been answered hundreds of times. You will get a lot of flack on this forum for asking questions that have easy and well documented answers.

That aside.

Yes the 9th tee adapter is the one you need. You may or may not want a router based on your software version (on the tivo) and what you plan to do with it. The install cd on the 9th tee website will hook you up with all the necessary install goodies. Read the forums!

As far as sending "files" to your mac. This may or may not be the forum you want. Read the rules regarding extraction.

As far as OSX goes, and I am a mac user, you will probably need a pc briefly to install the first round of software, after that you can go all mac (with some Virtual PC). Again, this has all been well documented. Here are a few links to help you jump off:

Use search, read read read. It's all there.

good luck and welcome

I just skimmed through the links you provided and it looks to be specific for Series 1 Tivo's. Is that a correct assumption? I've yet to find comparable resources for Series 2.
