Hello
I ungraded my tivo from a 30gb to the 30gb and a 120 gb (total 150gb). worked great, but I didn't like tivo 3.0 and want to go back to my old ver and will not plug in the phone. so I tried to restore it with no luck. here what I did.
at the prop
/#
I type
mfsrestore -s 127 -xzpi /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc /dev/hdb
and I got
"/mnt/dos/tivo.bak: No such file or directory"
I can see the drive when i boot up in dos (tivo.bak) so I know its there.

You are missing a couple of steps:
mkdir /mnt/dos
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/dos
Then the restore should work!:)
