Crashing/Green Screen

Someone gave me a TiVo that was giving the Green Screen of Death (saying that a Severe error had occured) to see if I could fix it.
I started by reimaging it, and it then booted, but it would crash every few minutes. I low-level formatted the hard drive and tried again. This time it seemed to work as it wasn't crashing anymore. I left the TiVo on overnight so it could download all the program information. However the next morning it was back at the Green Screen of Death.
I ran a complete diagnostic on the drive using PowerMax, and the drive came back clean. What's going on? Any ideas?

It's not unknown for PowerMax to pass drives that don't work in a TiVo.
Can you try a different drive in this TiVo?

Don't have one available right now
Oh well I'll get one and give it a try. If that doesn't do it though, any other suggestions?

I've had 4 Maxtor drives fail in my DTivos. They all pass PowerMax fine. I think the key issue is that the drives get too hot and then misbehave. When you get them into your PC to test them, they have then cooled down and thus pass PowerMax fine.
I'd recommend looking into one of the quieter and cooler drives. Samsung 120G seems to be the popular one in the forums.
Good luck!
