Well my original drive a is dead - no clicking - no nothing - just dead.
I had upgraded to a new drive b about a year ago so it is time for a new drive a.
Here is where I need some help. I have a copy of a new virgin HDR112 mfs backup on CD but I can not figure out how to restore it to the new drive A since this is not covered in the Hinsdale how to manual.
My setup is
hda - my pc C: drive with dos
hdb - my CD rom
hdc - my new drive a 80gb WD 7200
hdb - my new drive b 80gb WD 7200
How do I restore the virgin mfs backup from the root directory of my CD to the drive a? Also, can I restore and expand it to fill both drives or do I need to expand it for the drive a and the follow the steps for adding a drive b?
Thanks

YEA ME!!!!!!!!!
I got my 2 new 80GB drives in and running!!!!!
You guys here are great! I think Hinsdale needs to add an addendum to his how-to-guide covering restoring a backup image from a CDR as in replacing a dead drive... LOL, it took me hours trying to decypher 3 or 4 different ways of doing it before a combination of the 2 paid off.
Final question, how much recording space should I expect of 160GB or so of storage?
My TIVO shows 193 hours basic and 53 best quality - does that sound about right?
Thanks!!!!!!

Yes, the capacity you have is correct. 53 Hours at Best Quality. I have the same configuration.
Enjoy!
