Tivo won't start up after TivoNet install

So I bought the TivoNet card off Ebay, brand new, and a ISA Ethernet adapter off Ebay, brand new. I cracked the case after unplugging everything, plugged in the TivoNet adapter, and plugged in the powercable to the adapter from the extra drive cable. Then I plugged in the Ethernet card. Plugged in Tivo power and all the lights came up (on the NIC and TivoNet board), so I assumed everything was a go. Turned on the TV, and I just got the "Almost There. A Few More Seconds" message with grey screen background. It lasted for hours. I reset the Tivo by unplugging it, and plugging it back in. Same message. Then, I cracked the case, and uninstalled both cards. Powered up, and it came on fine, no problems. So I put just the TivoNet board in, without the NIC, and it powered up fine as well then all the way to the main screen. Then I turn it off, and plug in the NIC again, and sure enough, it goes to the "Almost There. A Few More Seconds" screen forever, and won't go past that. Also, I don't hear the drive spinning or the processor going. Is my NIC faulty or unsupported? I wasn't able to get an ISA Net adapter from any computer store, I had to order one, so are there any suggestions of ones that do work? Or is that not my problem?
The card is an OvisLink ISA Ethernet Card. The Tivo is a Phillips 14 hour.
Thanks for the help...I have no phone line at my new apartment and need to get my tivo going over my cable modem....
