Saw comments before about Jeffrey Combs returning. Bah, who cares? Someone should have told me Suzie Plakson was in this episode!
Blue-green skin, prehensile antennae? So what, still a hottie.

I've only seen the first ten minutes, but why does the show have to be so heavy handed?
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Archer was already told by his commander that the Vulcans are asking for his help. So why does he have to be so undiplomatic about it when the Vulcan finally does ask him for help in person?
Archer (condescendingly) "So you're asking for my help?" (**Well duh!**)
Any captain with rudimentary political skills would realize the situation and not have to comment on it out loud. Surely the viewers of the show don't have to be reminded of something that was just said 5 minutes earlier in the show?
If my manager was that obtuse, I would quit and find a new job!

Believe it or not, this episode didn't suck.
Although most of the Vulcans were arses, at least the humans were shown bridging the gap between the Andorians and the Vulcans.
A couple of notes:
Gee, after A Night in Sickbay, I have so much confidence in Archer's diplomatic skills.
Not smart, giving up your weapon to sneak up unarmed on a armed Andorian. At least Archer had the good sense to take the Andorian's weapon.
Oh my God, Tucker was actually decisive!
While it was too predictable that Taryn was undermining Shran at least it wasn't the Vulcan subcommander.
And the last two lines made me chuckle.
I think that note should be made of the fact that this episode was written by Chris Black and not Beavis and Butthead.
However, the episode looses points for the Vulcan bashing though. Grade C+.

Excellent episode. Entertaining, executed well, and moved things along, without it being a completely pat ending.

I used to *Love* Enterprise and never cared too much about the continuity issues. But recently the writing and especially Bakula's delivery is getting on my nerves. Still, its one of my favorite shows.
However, as lame as the writing is, when Trip was sitting in the Captain's chair last night, he was incredible! He made bad writing sound good. Even his silences were imposing. He *looked* like the Captain; he *was* in charge.
Now I find myself hoping that Archer is written out somehow and Trip gets command. I almost regret saying that since I do like Bakula, but he's just not delivering the goods.
Trip for Captain!

<Random tangent>
Star Trek ground combat (and this applies to all the series, not just Enterprise) seems really tame. It makes sense when it just a small away team with sidearms, but as soon as they try to scale it up to large combat / war conditions it starts looking really silly. A modern marine company once on the ground could have overrun everyone.
</Random tangent>
still; one of the better episodes.

It certainly wasn't as bad as it could have been, and by itself it was all right.
I'm just tired of this storyline. Two warring races want peaces. Only the humans can bring it about. One faction has a saboteur. Through the bravery of humans the warring factions decide to sit down.
It's just been done so many times and so straightforward. I know, there are only so many stories. I just want to see others besides this one.

Given that I generally like the show I thought this was a pretty good episode. I spent the whole show wondering what the "fanatics" here would find wrong with it but it seems it was generally well received.
The Captain being so undiplomatic is consistent with the stories so far, the Vulcan earlier in the conversation stated he did not want the humans involved and later admitted he needed help, since we have seen the animosity between humans and Vulcans consistently through this show it seemed OK to me.
Perhaps Archer gave up his weapon so the other could defend themselves.
I was impressed by Trip in this episode though the Pilot (never can remember his name) was the usual plank of wood.
Pretty good episode that I enjoyed watching.

I thought Archer was more diplomatic than the Vulcans!

I have a theory about that. I've had trouble reconciling Bakula's stiffness here with his Quantum Leap performances and I think that Bakula recognizes the bad writing and is just on auto pilot for a lot of these episodes. Pretty much the same way Robert Beltran was for the latter years of Voyager and Martin Landau was for Space:1999.....

I finally got around to watching this episode. I'm not putting spoiler tags here, you've been warned.
Definitely my favorite episode of this season, no question. Jeffrey Combs is just too cool. "I think he likes you, pink skin." LOL! :D
Archer wasn't as annoying as usual, and lame characters like Hoshi, Merryweather (sp?), and Malcolm were barely in it. Yeah, the grumpy Vulcan thing is getting a bit old, but overall I thought this was a much better episode than what we've been getting lately. If Enterprise was always this good, I'd have little to complain about. :up:
