Help, A drive failed in upgraded Series 2 TiVo

My 60hr Series 2 standalone TiVo just quit. The A drive makes a constant clicking noise and has obviously failed. I previously upgraded this TiVo with a second 120 gig drive from Hinsdale.

My question is: Can I just purchase a new (120 gig) A drive and use my old backup CD? Will I have to do anything to the old B drive?

I'm off to Frys to get a new drive right now. Any instructions to get me going would be very much appreciated.

Yes, you can purchase a new disk and use your backup CD, which you'll restore to the new disk you bought. You will then repeat the upgrade process with the old 120GB disk. Read carefully the instructions for using Tiger's MFS tools when expanding the "A" disk, which is effectively what you are doing.

So will I have to re-bless or do anything to the old B drive, or can I just plug it in after I set up the new A drive?

You will need to "re-bless" the B drive. You'll essentially reset to the state your TiVo was in when you made the backup.

Thanks for the help. My TiVo lives again. It took me half the night but I now have a 302 hour TiVo with nothing on it. My only frustration was from not having the jumpers set correctly as I moved the drives around.
