Here's the latest: Breckin Meyer (sp?) cut from cast.

Which one is he?

I've only been watching it for about a month and don't have all the names down yet.

Um, you're watching the BBC/British Coupling. the American Coupling hasn't been aired yet, it's only in production.

Having watch the recent season from the UK I cannot see how US TV can replicate this. There hilarious up front use of sex and use of bad language just cannot be replicated here.

Can you see an American 'Jeff' running into the Coffee house in full leather bondage gear & ask about how many laxatives to take because he swallowed the key to the handcuffs his GF is chained to the bed with...

I think not.

Can you imagine the whole 'Junior Patrick' episode in the US?

Or 'Lesbian Spank Inferno'?

'Cupboard of Patrick's Love?'

I'm hopeful it'll come over, but I just don't see American TV being ready for it.

Its definitely not ready. This version will suck.

Rmember the American version of Red Dwarf? No? Well, the shot two pilots that never even aired they were so bad. They changed Cat from a male to a female and changed Rimmer's H to a flashing dot. Why?

Smeg! I didn't even know they had attempted an American version of RD. Thank god it failed.

It'd be like trying to do an American version of Dr. Who. It just won't work.

And as much as I like Coupling, there's no way they can bring it to the US and not ruin it.

I agree, the fun of the episodes is in the details and the details are too much for American TV (I am not saying viewers just the networks).

My memory tells me that they did try and American Dr Who that lasted about as long as Red Dwarf.

I've liked Breckin Meyer in the stuff he's been in. Including Inside Schwartz. I was looking forward to seeing him in Coupling, oh well.

I don't know maybe if comdey central picks it up and lets it have the freedom South Park has, but then again who knows what the standards will be by the time it airs. I see no word on Ryan Reynolds, wasn't he supposed to be part of the cast also?

The pilot IS an edited version of "Inferno." I guess I should write "was," as the second pilot hasn't been shot, and will almost certainly be significantly different.

Over on the BBCAmerica "Coupling" board, Steven Moffat wrote:

Sue and I have been asked to take a 'creative back seat' on the American version, so it won't have a lot to do with us.

That is a real shame, as it was the only hope the series had of not being watered-down to the point of becoming "Friends: The Next Generation."

Incidentally, the American "Red Dwarf" pilot included Terry "Dax of ST:DS9" Farrell as Cat, and Jane "Daphne of Frasier" as Holly.

Thanks for the pic. I had not seen that before.

The second iteration of the pilot for "Coupling US" is due to lens April 17. Christopher Moynihan of short-lived series "Gary and Mike" and "The Fighting Fitzgerald's" joins the cast.
