Tyson Fight Tonight - PPV or No??
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I thought that the Etienne/Tyson fight was PPV but it shows up in my program guide on my DirecTivo as a Showtime (Channel 537) broadcast. So is this thing PPV or will it be broadcast on Showtime? I'd like to see Tyson get beat up, but not enough to pay extra for it. :D

No. On standard Showtime at 10 pm ET.

It is both apparently. I read the PPV will have extras but I am not sure what. The guy he is fighting isn't likely to beat up anybody.

I think the PPV has the undercard -- Tonya Harding!!

Its on both. Its a bit of a an experiment for Showtime PPV (SET). I'm not absolutely sure the Tonya Harding fight will be broadcast on the PPV (not according to fightnews.com anyway). Ain't nobody gonna kick Tysonls booty tonight (even if he hasn't trained in 10 days). Check out the Jay-Z concert before hand too (on Showtime).

No suprise, short fight.
Can't believe that he said during the post-fight interview that he had a broken back. If it was really broken, what doctor in his/her right mind would allow Tyson to fight?

Yeah, they had just enough time.
If Mike really wants respect, why not try fighting a decent oponent?

He needs to make alot of money to pay off his debts.

Actually, Etienne is a respectable opponent, though he did not look it tonight. His downslide began 2-3 fights back when he lost to Fres Oquendo. In that fight he was down 7 times, before that fight he was a top 10 heavyweight. Today he's maybe a top 15 and sliding..

I subscribe to Showtime but the DirecTV PPV ch 102 came in free. I guess all Showtime subscribers received that as well. The announcers on the two channels were different and the PPV had some prelim fights but I didn't tune in early enough to see what they were. That was the first time I have ever seen a PPV simulcast with a channel I receive and it surprised me I got both feeds. Two times nothing was still nothing though and that fight was nothing.

I really enjoyed the fight. Etienne (who is formidable) got "knocked the f--- out!" I don't think Mike really believes he has a broken back, just an injured one. Steve Albert cleared that up post fight.

Mike Tyson is a serious freak, but I like that in the post-fight interview he acknowledged that his life is a mess and he has to get his sh!t together. He also admitted he isn't ready for Lewis. It would be cool if he could actually get himself together enough to fight Lewis in a year or so, and make it a decent fight. Maybe by then he could have his whole body tattoed. ;)

Lewis will retire by the time Mike gets it together enough to fight him.

Lewis has a formidable opponent in Vladimir Klitscko (sp) he needs to get his act together and either fight or retire
