OZ Season Ender (Spoilers Possible)

Anyone else disappointed by tonights episode? Seems they left too much undone. What do you guys think?

Posted by: michad

They should have ended with Devlin checking into OZ.

I'm with you. I was left TERRIBLY disappointed. Far too many issues were left unresolved. In fact, one of the only things that I liked was the return of Querns (which is ironic, because I couldn't wait to see that guy go the first time).

I just think they left it open for future "movies" ... one of the lines McManus said when they were "leaving" was something like... I don't know.. but they said we would be back.

But I too was a bit disappointed in the show this evening... a lot of questions..

why did cuttler leave alvarez all this items??? things like that!

At least they finally explained the whole Cloutier thing.

Thank god for that.

It was funny though O'Reillys father mispronouncing Schillingers name twice. Hilarious.

They should of fried Cyril two shows ago.

Although, alot was left open I am glad they just didnt go and kill everyone.
I really liked how they left some storylines....Alvarez & O'Reilly ones especially.

I am not too disappointed that they left some of the storylines unresolved. I think it's kinda cool that we are left hanging wondering whether or not McManus has a job. I don't it would be believeable that every one of the dozen or so storylines would be resolved at the same time.

I was pretty disappointed though not suprised given the recent quality of the shows. This finale was like an episode of a bad soap opera.

My random points / questions

1) Why go through all of that stuff with Cyril two weeks ago, then repeat it this week in a mini-version with no new twists

2) I was disappointed with the lack of resolution in some of the key characters (McManus, O'Reilly, Beecher, Alvarez)

3) Way to much time was spent in the finale on new and recent characters

4) I agree with McManus made a comments like "we'll be back" - interesting

5) As I predicted last week the Macbeth story got turned around

6) It was funny to see Boosmalis (?) getting mad, when he screamed you Mother Effer it was pretty funny.

7) Querns had a personality overhaul since he was last on, he never smiled or made a joke last time.

8) Leaving the Govenor story hanging was crappy. His assistant also turned from a stand up hard man last week (when talking to Leo) to a gibbering coward

9) More of that infamous OZ timeline stuff. The events in the episode must have transpired over a couple of months (given various events, appeals etc.) yet other stories did not progress in the same time. Arif was in the cage with blood on his shirt, then other stories passed 3-4 weeks yet when the place was evacuated he was still in the cage with the same bloody shirt.

10) If Said's killer wanted to die why not kill himself or ask someone else pretty easy really

11) Dave Brass's face in the car after being arrested was pretty funny

Unfortunately there is no final episode that could have been "perfect". Especially in a show where there are so many characters and plotlines. It seems as if Fontana picked a few to resolve and left a few for the (I hope) future. It's funny how so many of us picked up on the line where one prisoner said "We're leaving?" and McManus said, "Yes but we'll be back".

I agree with everyone else, I needed more, but they ended the show on a high. Maybe it will come back by popular demand... I mean if a show like Friends won't die, why does Oz have to?

Oz, needs to die, I have been it's biggest fan but it has really outstayed it's welcome. A decent movie or two in the next couple of years would be OK with me.

One to add to your list:

12. Gloria seemed to have absolutely no problem throwing doctor/patient confidentiality out the window when telling Father Mukada about Claire's pregnancy.

Good, I thought I was the only one who saw that!

I don't think I was either disappointed or overly impressed.

The thing that struck me was that unlike other finales where "everyone moves on" no one (or at least not many people) in Oz "move on." They're stuck in jail and if they get out they're likely to return. Sure there are a whole bunch of things that happen to them while they are there, but it is basically a hope-less life.

Just my 2 cents...

I believe the reason for this was to bring Ryan to a sort of redemption. The first (almost) execution led him to a sort of compassion for several people, even his own father. The old cold-hearted Ryan was mostly gone. This developed (subtley) over the last 2 weeks since he had believed that God stopped his brother from dying.

I can't remember who said what, but, in the end, amid the hub-bub of evacuation, someone did say that they had to leave, but they would return after it was cleaned up. Something like, "we'll come back, some day"

I already deleted it but if you still have it Tivo'ed turn on the captioning and you might see it word for word.

I hope HBO starts playing OZ fromt he very first season now. I only started watching a couple years ago and have a lot of backstory to cathc up on.

Rent or Buy the Dvds.

or

Actually if you have HBO 1-37...they usually run old seasons of OZ on one of those stations. I remember seeing some episodes of Season 4 on one of those stations a couple months ago.

Posted by: tmcmullin

They had recently run the episodes from Season 1 thru current day (I think). I did not notice until Season 2 or 3? They all run together.
