TNN has forced me to make my first manual recording

OK hopefully this is the last time I watch CSI from monday nights (10:05pm to 11pm) and miss the end. They never finish on time and missing the end of CSI makes watching the whole episode a bummer. At least the guide data has been getting the supersized NBC but come on TNN do I really need 5 minutes of wrestling from 10 pm to 10:05 pm.

Padding.

I tape CSI Monday Nights out here on the East coast. It starts at 11:05 and ends at 12:05. I haven't had any problems, not to say I sometimes don't get a little nervous that I might miss the end. That's because sometimes at the beginning I do get a few minutes of wrestling.
But if you are having problems padding would be the way to go.

my guide data only records 55 minutes(till 11pm) for some reason not like yours. Strange

My number one gripe about Tivo is that if I pad one show 1 minute, and I have another show set to record that overlaps that minute, Tivo forces you to choose one whole show or the other. The only other option is to go in and 'negapad?' the other. Why can't it just pick the show with the lower priority and cut one minute off?
Oh well, maybe version 4.

I have noticed that too. Which is why i tend not to pad. Pad just one minute and the next show won't tape. You would think like you said that Tivo could just start the next show a minute later instead of not taping it at all.

I too got tired of missing the end, so I padded the heck out of the end of my SP. The guide data says the show is 55 minutes and starts at 11:05. I start recording On-Time and Stop 15 minutes after.
Some days there's no over-run and CSI starts right on time, sometimes wrestling seems to go on forever.
I'm watching yesterday's episode right now and it started 1 min. late.
Edited to add: ended with the green bar at 1:03 so that means CSI itself was 1:02 long. So why do they have it as 55 minutes in the guide? :(

A 5 minute pad on CSI will catch all of the episode. I have had that since the beginning and have never missed anything with it.
The issue you are requesting is called soft padding, where tivo would stop one program a minute late and start one a minute late as well. It has been debated and requested to death.

My SP for it has 5 min. of padding before and 15 min. (overkill, I know) after. Once or maybe twice it started airing early for me. I'm much rather ff through 5 min. of silly wrestling than mis a minute of one of my favorite shows!
Plus, although I'm nowhere near a wrestling fan, the fake mugging and acting of those wrestlers at the end of a "match" is enough to send me into a giggle fit. So bad it's wonderful!

The reason for the overrun is because that is what the contract with TNN states because RAW is live (East Coast) and it may run a bit late.

cello, I'm glad somebody outpads me--ours starts 5 minutes early, and runs 10 minutes late. Thank God for two tuners--with CSI:Miami being on 10-11, the pad would cause one to disappear otherwise.

Hmm. CSI Miami is also on from 10-11 for me, but the wrestling runs to 11:05, so the official starting time for the TNN CSI reruns is 11:05, with my pad giving me a start time of 11. No overlap. Thank goodness! (Okay, CSI Miami isn't good enough that I'd sacrifice it for last season's CSI. But it's nice to get both anyway. I'm a sucker for geeky gore.)

I thought I had noticed a couple of times that it was scheduled to start at 11pm; maybe that was when TNN started running it a few months back.
