Another great episode... of course we all knew Marie was lying.. what a bi*ch! I can't believe she got so brainwashed.
Kim - good job knocking him out... boy is she dumb (but good eye candy!)
How's Jack gonna get out of this one? Can't see him really dying with the bomb going off...
Can't wait until next week!
Posted by: njtaz
You knew Kim was going to get out of her jam, because she gets into so many I think she pretty much has it down.
Somehow Jack is going to get out of his little jam also. There is too much time left for them to kill either of them off.
So there has to be some big twist that gets Jack back on the ground safe and sound.

Guys - remember, some people don't watch the "Next Week previews"... so watch what you say in this thread.
Now... as for this week's episode

Great Episode... Just about all around. I usually read the spoilers on AICN before watching, however they didn't get the spoiler up in time. I think that made the episode all the more...
Yeah, the whole Kim thing I basically 30-sec skipped through. However, Mountain Man was just a man after all... needing a little somethin'-somethin' .:D
The end of Sherry? Could it be true... ? For some reason, I ain't buying it. However, good to see the Prez finally see through her.
The end of Mason ? Well... that seems a little more plausible... but again, I wonder if we will see more of him (death scene with his son, perhaps?).
And what now... a CTU cat-fight power struggle in the works ? Maybe with Naked Mandy as special guest Referee ? ;)
Next week looks good as well - Glad to see the writers get beyond 13 episodes and still going strong?
Is it Tuesday at 9 yet ? :)

POSTED ON OTHER THREAD!!!
I kinda thought the 2 CTU gals had a ... sexual tension ... if you get my drift!!!
So who here thinks that the new bomb is a fake of some sorts???
I do!
Unless ... the bomb threat goes away and then we concentrate on the poeple involved in the muslim/german thingy!!
Many more hours left!
Posted by: DancnDude
Great episode! I doubt Sherry will be leaving for good. What do you think of the new girl at CTU? Seems like she may be the cause of more problems soon.
My guess for next week based on the previews....
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Just as Jack is about to take off in the plane, Mason shows up and the dying man flys the plane over the desert to explode
Posted by: jackm1249
Another great episode. I don't watch the "upcoming on 24" but can't really get away from the radio ads, and in all of them you hear the bomb going off... Sort of misleading

Hey guys, would you SHUT THE HELL UP about next week's episode!!!!
It was already mentioned before in this thread (and in almost every other 24 thread) that a lot of us DON'T WATCH THOSE CLIPS. How hard is it to get through your thick skulls?!
And yeah Malachi, I also got the impression that the new gal and "Michelle Dressler" are ex-lovers.
Posted by: brahamt
Anyone know the name of the actress who plays the FNG?
She looks so familiar.

Yeah but isn't a little late for that now? There is only one thing that could be spoiled and it allready has in this thread. So what difference does it make?
Posted by: Rob Helmerichs
I guess my opinion is, the trailer airs with the show, if you don't watch it, that's your problem, not mine.

FNG? What does that expand to?
If you mean the new computer girl, the main things I remember her from were Dawson's Creek (she played Karen, the waitress at Pacey's restaurant last season) and ER (2 seasons ago, she played Carter's very young girlfriend who was a pediatric intern).
Edit: I guess I should have given her name. :) It is Lourdes Benedicto.

BS. The reason we don't watch it (or read the episode description) is because they tend to give too much away. What is so freaking hard about using spoiler tags? We only expect things that happened before 10pm in this thread.

Exactly! I also agree with Dancndude's guess for next week.
Posted by: disco
I thought this weeks ep was rather boring, really...<shrugs> Still wonder what they're gonna do for the next TEN HOURS or so, though...since they already found "the bomb".
Posted by: DancnDude
Last year we were thinking the same thing when they found Mom and Daughter in the middle of the season and they had some great stuff planned after that. It seems they have this season more planned out so I expect great things the rest of this season.

And I guess my question would be "what is so freaking hard"... about accepting the fact that if a thread mentions a particular show and spoilers, that anything related to that show is fair game?
It's all or nothing.
Posted by: vertigo235
The trailers are often very misleading anyhow. How can we talk about the show if we cant speculate on what might happen in the future?
Besides, the thread title does have **SPOILERS** on it. That's why there are no spoiler tags.

But the problem is that people are giving spoilers for the next show, not this show.
I watch the previews but sympathize with those who don't want to. (I just don't have enough willpower to wait.) Why don't people who want to discuss next week's show just start a new thread for that? The title of this thread is 9-10pm, not 10-11pm.

this is just ridiculous

My take on next weeks episode based on the previews:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
So Jack is flying the plane with the bomb....as said above, even though indications are it is nuclear, hot, and ready to go at any moment, could it still be a fake....I doubt it. My guess is they may have rigged the plane with an ejection system, or Jack has a parachute and sets the plane on an autopilot, or something. I am guessing he does get a way, with injuries, and a good portion of the rest of the "day" is spent trying to find him.......
Who knows....I can't wait for Tuesday!
Posted by: Rob Helmerichs
Why not just drop it? (I hope that was vague enough not to trigger the Spoiler Nazis! :D)
Posted by: Family
Agree... this is ridiculous.
The show rocks, but I had to chuckle about Jack flying the plane (opps I slipped). Does this guy empty the trash at CTU as well? The dude does everything. Here is the best agent of all time and he's the one our country decides to waste on a suicide mission. It's like deciding to use Michael Jordan as the player you want to committ the intentional fouls.
Posted by: pmyers
everyweek I keep getting more impressed by the "good" daughter's acting.
And did anybody else remember Jack adressing the exact issue that somebody brought up last week about the 6 renegades dying and how their wounds were?
Posted by: jlb
But given what you are referring to, and the fact that Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
the plane jack is flying seems to be a basic little two engine cessna style plane
, I would doubt that Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Jack would be able to maneuver such a plane away quickly enough to avoid the blast totally
.

FNG is a military expression politely translated as "Freakin' new guy"
FNGs are not loved.
And yah, time for some serious lesbo tension in the CTU command center.

I'll agree here. The spoilers at the end of the show are just that -- spoilers. I skip them, as do many others. Why the hell can't people just accept that and not mention them without putting them in a spoiler tag?

I'd like to put in my vote for no preview references. I read the first couple of posts on this thread and I was completely confused. I don't understand why this has blown up so suddenly; in previous threads it hasn't been a problem for people to limit or spoilerize preview comments. I guess this is the first preview spoiler worth discussing (which also makes it the one the rest of us least want to hear about!).
ObOnTopic: At least we know that CTU has heard of establishing a perimeter (albeit not a great one). Still, I wonder how the truck snuck off to another part of the base without being spotted and stopped for inspection, especially with the strike team closing in on the hangar (last week's ep.).

Nothing is
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
so hard
about using spoiler tags, but then again, there's absolutely NO REASON TO USE SPOILER TAGS in a thread that is clearly titled *SPOILERS*
If you don't want to see spoilers, then don't read threads.
If you want them all TAGGED, then start a thread that says that.
If you don't care if their untagged, then mark the thread SPOILERS or UNTAGGED SPOILERS.
There are plenty of issues to worry about in the world, but bumping into spoilers in threads that are titled SPOILERS
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
isn't one of them
Posted by: okleydokley
Thanks and no thanks guys, I think you have succeeded in alienating a couple of readers (including me). I am very disappointed, because I look forward to reading this thread every week, and usually I can get by with little or no spoiling of next week's previews.
My suggestion for next week is that someone start two separate threads.
24 10-11PM - **SPOILERS**
24 10-11PM - **NO-PREVIEW SPOILERS**
Posted by: pmyers
The idea of somebody complaining about spoilers of any type being in a thread entitled spoilers is utterly insane to me. I would never post any type of spoilor in a regular thread and can apreciate that, but if I go into a thread labeled spoilers.....I expect everything to be fair game.
Sorry if you feel you've been alienated, but frankly I think you've done that yourself.
Posted by: DanT
Sorry pmyers, bdowell, MG, and others who say spoilers based on next week's preview are fair game. That's just BS. This thread is specifically about 9-10pm. The last thing we see is the clock ticking up to 10:00:00pm. THAT's when the episode ends, and that's what is fair game for spoilers in this thread. If you want to talk about next week's preview, just put it in spoiler tags. It's real simple, it's been the common courtesy in just about every thread around here, and now you guys go and blow it bigtime. WTF?
Posted by: Dubbadown
The Spoilers in the title refer to spoilers in that particular episode, it has nothing to do with the previews for next week. How hard is it to accept that people like to enjoy each new episode without having an idea of what is to come? I used to watch the coming previews at the ends of all the shows, and really enjoyed them. But after coming to this forum, I decided to forgo the previews for next week, and I have found that I enjoy the episodes FAR MORE. But that is just me. I don't ask that you guys do the same, but how hard is it to tag PREVIEW SPOILERS. How is that "utterly insane"?? To have two threads for each episode because some people aren't considerate enough to think about others, now to me, thats "utterly insane".
Posted by: scottjf8
Sorry :(
Next time I'll be more specific about the "type" of Spoilers posted in the threat title.. sheesh

So, does Lonnie have cable TV in his bunker. Anyone think it odd that Kim was able to tune so many channels, so quickly, and clearly? Laughed out loud when Kim pulls the knife on him and he takes it back so easily. So easy it was funny. We're going to need another T-shirt scene to make up for that one.
Anyone want to predict what kind of trouble she'll get into next because she's carrying a gun?
Posted by: pmyers
what.....ever.
guess we need 2 threads for EVERY tv show out there then since they all have previews. I've been a member here for quite a while and have participated in many threads regarding shows and have never had a problem until today.
Posted by: atreyu
I think the two-thread idea is a bit excessive... can't we just agree to go with the lowest common denominator (spoilerize references to the previews) out of consideration for those of us who'd appreciate it?
Seems like common courtesy, and it's not like it's difficult to do, or like it keeps... ah... "spoiler-lovers" (?) from enjoying the thread, as well, ya know?
BTW, I'm a newbie, and didn't actually know how to "spoilerize" text until today. If you didn't know but were too embarrassed to ask, here's how (quote my message to see the example):
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Just frame the spoiler text with {spoiler} at the start and {/spoiler} at the end, substituting square brackets ([ & ]) instead of curly braces.
Posted by: Mike20878
Did anyone else think the Kim storyline was a huge waste? There was no point except to continue her adventures in stupidity...

I thought it was kind of surprising that at around 9:30pm all the local stations were showing the local news??
In what kind of weird parallel universe does '24' take place in, where the 9:00-10:00 prime time slot is taken up by local news reports?? :)
Posted by: e30mpwrd
First, those of you wanting to be able to post comments on the previews for next week are being pretty silly. In the previous 24 threads I've read all preview related comments were hidden as spoilers. Even though I watch the previews, this seams reasonable to me; just show some respect for people that have watched the show but chose not to watch the previews.
Back to our scheduled programming....what happened to the 7th commando? Jack knows there is a homicidal hyper-trained rogue military assassin at the airport, doesn't know the guy's motives, and doesn't seem to tell anyone, nor does Jack seem to be the least bit concerned about this wild card. I kept expecting him to start systematically picking off CTU personnel. Presumably this rogue will play a pivotal roll at some point in the future.
I love the addition of the new CTU character--she gets my vote for one of the hottest women on TV.
Posted by: pmyers
that and considering we thought that it was the 7th commando who was driving the truck with the nuke. If that wasn't him then where is he?

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
I think I learned something new today!

Good question. They seemed to take out the guy driving the truck pretty easily; he defended himself by standing in the open and firing an automatic weapon fairly haphazardly. I think the writers of 24 would not let a guy with this type of training be taken out so easily. Only time will tell...

Personally, my feeling is that a thread with spoilers in the title should be enough. Anything aired with the show is fair game to be posted. And, since they use misdirection in the previews anyway, we don't really know anything that happens. We saw Jack in the airplane talking to Kim, but we don't know if he was flying, we don't know if he was alone, we don't know if there really is a bomb on board....it's ALL speculation.
That said, we'll go with the majority on this next week. I'll start a poll. Those who care can vote, and we'll implement whatever policy gets voted on starting with next week's thread.
I will not vote as I'll be the one enforcing the rule. :)

I agree that previews of next weeks episode should be tagged ... but if someone slips up ... the "No Spoiler" people have usually been quite nice about reiterating that they prefer we *tag* them ... I think it was comments like the one above that through fuel on this fire. Now i can understand the frustration and all. BUT this seems a little HARSH i think.
Now some people might spoil on purpose ... but I say alot dont and just forget or *goof* up. Im sure these people are sorry.
Perspective though ... just a TV show!
A DAMN GOOD TV SHOW!!!

Some other thoughts on the "Fly the bomb" out...
* We have commented about how long people taking to travel in LA in 24-land, compared to real-life? What about air travel.... i.e. how long would it take someone to travel by plane from the airport to a suitable detonation site?
* Granted, neither is "preferable", however, if a choice had to be made... is it better than a nuke exploded in the air or on the ground ? My guess is that an air blast would not have fallout... since there is relatively little dust/dirt to become radioactive. However, containment is probably an impossibility..
Jeff
Posted by: Rob Helmerichs
You detonate a nuke in the air for maximum damage. And LA is only a few minutes' flight from open desert.
Posted by: Zixar
Airburst is for maximum widespread property damage. Groundburst is for hardened targets and maximizing fallout.
I thought Mason would be the perfect one to fly the bomb out to the desert. Die a hero, George!
Posted by: atreyu
Anyone else notice the silent "ticking clock" after Mason made his exit? That only happened last season on the final episode, when we knew Jack's wife was dead. Kind of like a silent memorial... a mournful effect vs. a suspensful one.
Thought it was a great touch then, and when I saw it this episode I assumed it meant this is George's final appearance.
(BTW, can we move the "spoilerizing previews" chats/rants to the poll page?)

I too noticed the "non ticking" clock ...
Although I did think it was a "sorta" solem farewell ... it just seemed too non-eventful IMHO. I hope he comes back for one last ... hurrah!!
Posted by: vertigo235
Man this is stupid, IMO if the title says Spoilers, you should expect spoilers. The title does not say *Spoilers from 9:00pm - 10:00pm only**
I personaly hate spoiler tags because I have to highlight them, and that just annoys me. But I would NOT post a spoiler in a thread that is not marked for spoilers.
NOW I'm being told by some people that I cant post spoilers in a thread marked FOR SPOILERS! The way I see it is if my TiVo recorded it, and I saw it, then you saw it too. So I will continue to post about previews without spoiler tags in a thread marked for spoilers.
ADD ME to your ignore list if you deam it necicary.

I was disappointed by this episode.
First off, why would that guy let Kim go if he was really that psycho? Why would he give her one of his guns?!
Why would the president just let Shari go instead of detaining her for future questioning?
Why did the crack security team at the airport let the bad sister slip away but the untrained good sister tracked her down?
Where is the rogue commando?
I was seriously annoyed by the "tension" between the new girl and the "old" girl. Both are in positions that require far, far more professionalism than they were showing. It's not like one managed the other at their previous jobs at Burger King.
I thought Jack should have told Bad Sister that Sayed Alli (sp?) already sold out to save his family so she should, too. Yes, the actress playing the Good Sister is doing a fine acting job.
Since it's been spoiled already...
Suppose Jack is the one flying the bomb out of town.
a) Why does this guy have to do everything himself?
b) Don't they have unmanned drones that can haul it? I suppose there isn't time to bring one in.
c) If time is so critical, why isn't it being flown out on a jet?
Is it possible to disarm a nuke by breaking it? Sure, it'd spread radioactive debris over a small area but that seems preferrable to it detonating. They could chop the detonator off it with a backhoe. Kind of like a disrupter used on convential bombs. Risky and not very dramatic, I guess.
I agree that the previews are misleading. My wife and I were confused when something previewed last week had already happened at the beginning of this episode.
OK, I'm done whining for now. I still like the show a lot. :D

I was thinking the same thing but if they fly it out on a jet and have the pilot eject, they would expose the search party to nuclear fallout.
I'm I the only one who finds it weird that the nuclear guys don't wear any suits when they near the bomb? That is a pretty big oversite imho.

It would probably make more sense to fly the thing way over the ocean in an F-14, but maybe since they don't know how much time is left until detonation, they just need to take whatever plane is available.
Posted by: dmaneyapanda
i thought this was an interesting site on NEST.
from the pictures, it looks like they do use radiation suits...and lots of foam! i guess it wouldn't make for compelling television.
besides which, on matters of nuclear disarmament i defer to the gold standard, The Manhatten Project, starring a young cynthia nixon. Hopefully the NEST team brought their nail clippers.

I will sincerely give gigantic hugs and kisses to the producers of the show if Mason just dies quietly and dignified. Everybody was guessing weeks ago (hours ago?), that he'd do some heroic thing to save the day because he's gone anyways, and that's probably what most shows would have happen.
But so far it looks like he just said his goodbyes, had the non-ticking clock, and maybe that's it. Pretty cool.
As for the spoilers for the previews.
People are getting confused. we are tivo users. we can watch this episode of 24 anywhere from 9 pm tuesday until the end of time. You put **spoilers** in the thread title, because you can't assume everybody watched the show you are referring to like you can on other boards.
Is it ok to have a thread called Alias - Episode 15 **Spoilers**, and because it says spoilers to reveal what happens in the season ender?
In a thread titled "24 9:00p - 10:00p - **SPOILERS**", why would anybody assume it's ok to give spoilers of scenes from any 24 show airing later than "24 9:00 - 10:00 pm?"

Because it isn't titled "24 9:00p - 10:00p - **SPOILERS from 9-10 only**" and because often the previews never appear in the show so they might or might not happens. Just like normal foreshadowing in a novel. Sometimes it means something, sometimes it does not.
Just assume that anything with spoilers in the title has them. Don't like spoilers, don't read that thread. Easy Peasy.
YMMV.

No, because the season ender preview hasn't aired yet. If, however, it's the show before the season ender, and they had previews of the season ender, then it's fine. Simple, no?

Because the spoilers in question were broadcast along with that show.
Listen, while choosing to include spoilers along withe the show they're broadcast on is *somewhat* arbitrary, it makes a lot more sense than drawing the line anywhere else. Even if your aforementioned 'rule' is correct, if a viewer has had the opportunity to view the episode, s/he has had the opportunity to view the previews....and I'm sure the majority of viewers (even the subset of TiVo owners who are on these forums) DO view them.
Oh, and one more thing, in a thread entitled "24 9:00p - 10:00p - **SPOILERS**" what spoilers can there be besides stuff that takes place after the episode?? What, in your mind, would constitute a totally spoiler free thread? A blank page, I guess.
Posted by: smak
So in the same thread title, 24 9:00 p - 10:00p and **Spoilers** don't refer to each other?
If it said "24 - this week's episode **spoilers** would the same apply?
And if spoilers for the future were ok, wouldn't the thread title be called 24 9:00pm - 8am?
There is absolutely no reason to post **spoilers** on any thread that is talking about a specific episode. If a thread says 24 9-10, rest assured the whole thread is going to spoil 24 9-10.
Of course technically the previews are shown in the same hour as 9-10. But you do realize the previews show not one second of anything other than the 10-11 show?
Listen, you could be 100% right, maybe you are, but what you're doing is saying anybody who does not like to see the previews of the next episode is not welcome in this thread. This is the only thread. There aren't going to be two 24 threads. So, if I basically anybody who doesn't like to watch the previews MUST be forced to read about them if they'd like to discuss 9-10 here.
Being "technically" right, doesn't mean you shouldn't be courteous and take up 8 seconds of your valuable time to let all of us join in on the discussion.
Should we have a race to see who can swipe a line of text with their mouse or type in spoiler the fastest?

Can't believe what I just saw...
I was checking out the descriptions that are in the Guide for the next 2 episodes. (Yeah, I know... cheating a little bit). However, I couldn't understand how come there was no 24 listed in my To Do list for 2 weeks from this past Tuesday. When I checked out the Schedule for March 11th... I figured out why.....
@#$%^ American Idol is a 2 hour episode that night !
So... at this moment, this would mean that the final episode of 24 will be aired on May 13th. (Assuming no more skips and one 1-hour episode per week).

Makes sense, that is sweeps.

Yes, I realize that, but it doesn't change my opinion or my point.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that there is no OBJECTIVE reason that the threads should be run to YOUR liking.

I happen to agree with you on that one, if you'd paid attention to what I've said previously you'd know that.

All they really have to do to render the bomb inoperable is pull the blasting caps out of the blanket of detonating explosive. (the "soccer ball")
Even if they can't reach some of them, unless they all go off at exactly the same time to compress the plutonium core to critical density, the nuclear reaction does not initiate.

maybe they called the wrong NEST team in?
(excellent weird design magazine, by the way.)

POSSIBLE SPOILER to follow.
(Opinion only, but still, some one might get upset....)
I would full well expect that 24 will wind up finishing with a 2 hour finale.
Even breaking stuff into little pieces, I expect that they'll either expand to 2 hours for the final, or, possibly, Fox will wind up putting on some special 'behind the scenes at 24' or something similar to fill the night. They'd be pretty stupid not to, but then again, it is Fox we're talking about, and they could do just about anything, up to and including 'yet another look at Joe Millionaire' :D

Anyone care to count how many posts are acutally related to 24, and how many posts are related to the whole spoiler debacle?

American Idol will also be finishing around the same time so they will have to come up with a way to accomodate both finale's

I wouldn't say they all suck, but I would say that most of them have so far....
About as much 'pop' as a wet noodle.
They definitely should have kept around Patrick the hard rocker.
Unfortunately they want a 'pop idol' rather than just plain 'Idol'.
My prediction is that the Marine will win it all. He'll take a bunch of the patriotic vote - unless people wind up just going for b&b (blonde and breasts or brunette and breasts).

Too many!!!
Any discussion of the preview spoiler issue should go in the poll posted by Ann to decide the issue.
