How to upgrade TCD240040. Hinsdale does not cover!

I have a NEW Series2 40hr that is a TCD240040. I want to upgrade it, but the Hinsdale how-to is NOT clear on if I need to use the mfsbackup tool with the "-f" option or not. It says to use it on the Series2 80hr, but I'm not sure about this unit.
Also an interesting tidbit-- THIS SERIES2 40hr has USB 2.0 hardware.
Your help is appreciated.

We can't say this with absolute certainty, but we're pretty sure that you need to use the -f 4138 option for that model. Its largely identical to the 230040 model (which also has USB 2.0 - the 40 hour which doesn't is the 130040).

Good to know, but the how-to says something to the effect that most units do not use the -f option, but the only Series2 mentioned (the 80hr), uses the -f option.
Thanks.

I have sucessfully upgraded a newer Series2 40 hour TCD240040. I did a backup of the virgin 40 GB hard disk (never turned on) with the msfbackup's "-f" option per the how-to for the 80GB Series2 units. I then restored on a new WD1200JB (120 GB/8MB buffer/7200rpm) and plunked it in my Tivo. It was pre-installed with SW ver 3.2. Seems to be working fine so far.
Are there any symptoms of a failed upgrade that I should be looking for?
By the way, I did a restore direct from a CD-R that I burned containing my virgin backup image... worked like a charm.

Just curious, if you don't mind telling, how big is your virgin image? I'm at the point of making a virgin of my new TiVo-branded 80hr TiVo (TCD240080), but if I don't save a lot of space, or have some other compelling reason, I'll not bother.
Thanks,

It was a bit over 800MB uncompressed, compressed down to 500 or so.
