Yahoo! news on "24" renewal - UNTAGGED SPOILERS
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

There will be UNTAGGED SPOILERS to follow.
If you don't want to deal with these spoilers, then stop reading now.
LAST WARNING.
UNTAGGED SPOILERS may follow. You have been warned.
Yahoo! (and E! Online) have news on the renewal of 24.
It's been provided in other threads here, but, obviously, 24 is doing well enough and has been renewed.
The article at this link:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm.../en_tv_eo/11354
Provides some information on people who are under contract for next season.
MAJOR SPOILER: Kiefer Sutherland is definitely under contract, but so is the nice young lady that is playing the role of Kate Warner (Sarah Wynter).
No information is provided in the article on future plot or story issues, nor is there confirmation of any other confirmed cast contracts.
Still, it'd be quite unusual that an actor/actress would be under contract and not then later show up, at least for a short period of time, in the following season. With that thought in mind, I'm curious how Kate Warner would fit in for future season(s).

Hey look I read it,
Mr Sutherland I believe especially since he's a Producer.
But it's not beyond belief that the Kate Warner link is a decoy.
Having said that there is no indication in the current story line that Kate would be killed. Sis is now captured so the story focus should shift.

I don't think that there is any guarantee that Jack survives this season.
Maybe the next "24" focus on Tony and the Prez...

I'm afraid I won't be watching a 3rd season if "Kate Warner" returns. Am I the only one who wanted to see her sister actually shoot her? I felt at least somewhat rewarded with the slap.

I agree T-Veaux. The "good" sister is totally annoying. I personally think that she completely overacts, so I'm kinda surprised at all the "what a great acting job" comments about her.

I agree I do not like her or her character.

I would not be surprised to see a relationship between Jack and Kate Warner, they could possibly get married. Kate's Dad already works for the CIA, it isn't very far fetched that Kate might decide to follow in her father's footsteps, and possibly might end up at CTU.

...and THAT is what worries me the most.

There's still plenty of time left for 'the good sister' to become something other than 'good', and that could be part of where they'd be able to bring Kate back for the next season.
Or, she could easily become 'a love interest'... an employee of CTU... the designated bouncy female victim of an impossibly stupid situation that never should have gotten as bad as it did (aka she replaces Kim Bauer for the stupid bimbo role) or anything else.
It's going to be darn interesting to see when 'the next 24' picks up. If it goes some time into the future, it could center around some sort of 'rescue mission' on the part of the current bad guys (if they go to rescue Marie Warner for example), or could go a completely different direction.
Personally, I hope it goes a little differently. I like Dennis Haysbert, but it's getting old to have his Life/Presidency always at stake.
Perhaps something a little less 'national security' and a good bit more 'local security' again (as was the inital season for the most part).

I, for one, like Kate, and I don't think she's overacting. I think she provides a nice "normal person" view of things. It's easy to forget, with all these seasoned veterans and calculating villains and one bimboid daughter, that the events going on are pretty intense and unbalancing, especially for people caught up in the middle of them.
Sometimes just watching something terrible happening at a great distance on the news can affect me more than it affects most TV characters to be right in the middle of incalculable horror and danger, watching their most trusted friends and relatives either die, or betray everything they believed in. Kate's reactions are, if anything, subdued, and they give the contrast necessary to make Jack's grace-under-pressure so remarkable -- even when Jack's grace-under-pressure is starting to fray at the edges.

...if you can call chopping off somebody's head graceful! :D
But I agree, I like Kate too, and I find her sheer shock at what's going on quite plausible. I mean come on, her sister just murdered her own fiancé! That's gotta do something to your head!

What I haven't figured out is why everybody here is "speculating" that Kate will become Jack's love interest.
The producers have stated this since before the 2nd Season premiere of 24, back in October. This is from the 10/27/02 Cincinatti Enquirer, http://enquirer.com/editions/2002/1...ese27test.html:
"Yet to be connected to Bauer is a new character, attorney Kate Warner (Sarah Wynter, The Sixth Day), who producers say will be Bauer's love interest. (Exactly how much love can he find in 24 hours?)"

I think both Jack and Kate need to take some laxatives. Most of their acting when they are serious looks as if they are in very much need of a bowel movement.
