Upgrade "TivoMadded" Tivo with second drive without losing recordings

I currently have a single drive Tivo that I'd like to add a second drive to. Currently it has an 80g drive that was expanded with Tivomad. I've researched over the fine documentation in this forum and in the Hinsdale how-to but am still confused as to the risk and process of adding this second drive without losing my existing recordings. Can I safly use MFSTools 2.0 "mfsadd" as in the Hinsdale how-to without losing my recordings? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably will work fine, but I have messed up and lost everything by doing this.

If you absolutely must have your recordings, your safest way is to get 2 new drives for the TiVo. Then, copy your entire A drive to a same size or larger A drive, and do the mfsadd -x against it with the new second drive.

See the hinsdale howto for step by step details on doing this. http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/
UPGRADE CONFIGURATION #3:
From: Any Single Drive TiVo
To: New A and New B Drive
(Slow option – preserves setup, season passes, etc. and recordings)

mfsadd seems to be reliable. BlessTiVo would break your TiVo in this instance, but I haven't seen any reports of problems with mfsadd.
