Considering two Series 2s have Questions though:
1 The only way to make my tivos interact, use the internet to call, or transfer info to my pc through my network is to do that one time pay $99 + $49 thingy???
Cos none of those other options it offers appeal to me.
What are the pther things I can do to series 2s that I can't with my two series 1s???
Will other crud hook up to it in the future??? That can't with a series 1???
I dunno it is a lot of cash and I wanna know all the reasons it is worth it I guess.
Will tivo never even record downgraded HD tv to NTSC signals?? Even that is more clear than my regular locals.

You can have a Series 2 TiVo make its calls over the Ethernet now with just a USB/Ethernet adapter if you have a cable modem or DSL already, though you'll likely want to buy a $80 router. You don't need the Home Media Option for that, its for transferring shows between your TiVos and doing remote scheduling.
The Series 2s will keep getting software updates, the Series 1s probably won't for very much longer. They'll keep getting program information though.
TiVo showed a prototype HDTV TiVo at the Consumer Electronics Show last month, it may be available by the end of the year.

Oh Frell. So will it do regular tv too? Or just HD??
Argggh see this is why I was afraid to do two series 2s right now. A lot of locals are on HD now, unlike before.
I hate making quick choices. Why don't they extend the deadline? Or is this simply a ploy to get us to buy before they release HD tivos??

I've heard no official announcements or credible rumors for the HDTiVo, so its features can only be guessed at. I don't know enough about HDTV to do that.
The limited-time lifetime transfer is a "thank you" from TiVo to the folks who bought the old technology, in response to the many Series 1 owners who asked for such a thing. I don't think it's a trick to get people to buy Series 2s now so they'll have to buy again when the HDTiVos come out.
