I just purchased a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 120GB 7200RPM Ultra ATA/133 Hard Drive for $99 at Best Buy (after $50 Mail in rebate).
Seems like a good deal.

I am not sure if this is a heat-related incident or just a faulty drive but the next morning(today) after upgrading my Tivo with this same Maxtor I woke up to find my Tivo's red light on solid and I was unable to get it to respond to the remote.
After unplugging the Tivo and plugging it back in I got the "Powering Up" screen and it stayed there.
I will be taking my drive back to BestBuy and instead ordering a 5400RPM drive. I want to take ZERO chances.

It seems to be working so far (1 Hour). I'll keep as eye on the temp. I have already replaced the fan in this machne once.
Thanks for the heads up!

I'm using the same drive (Maxtor 120GB 7200RPM from BB for $99) and it seems to work great so far. My HDVR2 w/ the upgrade has been going strong for over a week and is currently operating at 49 degrees.

I've had my Maxtor 120/7200 going for 2 weeks now, with no heat issues at all. My SVR-2000 is running at 38 degrees. :)
My HDR312 with a Samsung 120/5400 is also 2 weeks along, and runs at 39 degrees......so go figure!!
Both TiVo's are in the same cabinet, 1 shelf apart from each other.
