Do Friends watchers agree?

That the show isnt at its apex this season? I am a big fan, however, the show has been going bad.

I killed the SP about 6 weeks ago. It just got to the point that I couldn't bear to watch any longer.

I think they should just end the show now. I don't know if I can bear another season.

I still like the show and I think Joey has really gotten to be the better character of the show, but the Ross/Rachel thing is getting really annoying!

Perhaps they are making Joey the better character because of his future spin-off show.

I haven't been watching much because of Survivor, the show has had some funny moments this year but is basically just a soap opera - I want to see what happens to the characters. But I know I can catch it all in repeats.

Joey is the only thing making the show worth watching.
Other than the Melissa George guest spots.

Ya know, I really can't stand all of the lame soap-operaish junk on Friends, but I love the one liners so darn much, that I keep watching.
I mean seriously, Phoebe having her brothers triplets, Ross and Rachel having a child - ICK! Who cares??
But when you see the episode where Joey can't comprehend the whole quotations with your fingers thing, and he says "sorry....?" Well, it almost makes the whole thing worth it.
Yeah, I'll be watching next season too..."sorry.....?" :D

This is not it's best season by a long shot, but despite some of the ridiculously silly stuff they have done this season I still enjoy more than most other sitcoms.
In fact NBC Thursday night sitcoms (Friends, Scrubs and Will and Grace) are the only ones I still try and catch weekly

Yes, the show has definitely gone downhill this season....
If my wife wasn't watching with me, I'd be FFwing through all the Ross and Rachel scenes.... Can they be MORE annoying????
I still believe that the best part of the show is the Joey - Chandler buddy relationship... Put those two on camera together and that's where the fun is!!

Agreed, not their best season, but still makes me laugh. I think a few years ago it fell victim to the "well it's been on a long time and is successful so it's time to shoot it down whether it sucks or not" syndrome so prevalent in American entertainment culture.
We just love to root for things on the way up, then it becomes cool to hate them til they fall down.
Same thing happened to Seinfeld.

This season isn't nearly as funny as the last one. While I won't go so far as to say it's bad, there are certain parts that just aren't funny anymore. The biggest problem in my mind is "Ross and Rachel".
The whole "Will they or won't they?" plot (which has been dragging on since Season 1) has gotten old. It was funny for a long time, even during the "We were on a break" bit. But now, it's just tired. It's even worse than the Daphne/Niles issue was on Frasier.

So far, this season is definitely not one of their better ones. The characters have become a bit, I don't know, sanitized? Phoebe isn't as quirky as she was, and that removes a huge source of good jokes. Chandler is just too comfortable with marriage, so he lost a lot of his insecurity and isn't nearly as manic as he was (making him more boring). The Ross/Rachel thing is worn and tired. If after all this time they still aren't sure about getting together, then they don't deserve to get together with anybody. Jeez! Get over it already!!!!! Joey is still funny (when they don't make him dumber than he usually is). Courtney Cox is a great-looking woman, so why do they make Monica seem so .... bleh! ?
But I have to admit that there's still some great lines, and some pretty decent individual episodes. Like when Rachel's sister showed up. That whole "Phoebe" routine was really really funny.
The scene where Joey punches Ross in the face was absolutely hysterical.
So there's still some funny stuff going on, it's just not up to par with the older episodes. I'll continue to watch it though because it's the final season, and I still get a bit of a kick out of the characters themselves.

Actually, they were picked up for one more season. :)

Exactly the same thing I was thinking, scooter... the last year of Seinfeld was painful (the only decent one was the backwards one where they went to a wedding in India.)
This year has been bad, and I can't imagine what storylines they have left for next year. The only good story this year so far has been... umm, well, since there's no "spoiler" in the title
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
The storyline with Phoebe and Mike, which they ended way too early last week

For this show, I don't agree. (As well as Seinfeld).
The characters in Friends have lost any individuality. They all act the same. They are ALL dumb. When the show first started, they weren't all morons.
Can the writers do anything different besides the Ross & Rachel almost got together, but something happens storyline??? MOVE ON already!
I don't attribute this decline as just how people act.. it's a result of the writing going downhill.
Seinfeld didn't get as bad, tho they seemed to have been running out of steam and that finale.. well... it STUNK.

the Ross/Rachel thing is getting on my nerves too, just conclude it already
this show went from comedy to soap opera very quickly. agreed that Joey is the one keeping the show alive, he's always been the funniest along with Phoebe

Joey's been the funniest for maybe 3 years.
But is it because he's now funnier, or everybody else has sunk below him.
I still watch the show, because it's almost over and I might of well have watched every episode in it's 10 year run.

I haven't watched it at all this season. Figured I would pick it up in Summer Re-runs, but maybe I won't after reading this thread. :)
Have to admit I was a bit disappointed that they decided to bring it back for another season. Been a big fan of the show, but it is probably time for it to go.

I've found Pheobe very annoying. Instead of the quirky girl she was, she is just negative and bitchy.
Joey is definitely the funniest, and I've also found Ross storylines really hilarious lately.
Right on to those who said that Chandler has turned boring now that he's not insecure.

My wife's stopped watching altogether, and now mocks me for watching it. Friends has had a good run, but it needs to retire - take a cue from Seinfeld and go out while you're at the best of your game. Although this last season certainly isn't their best...
Although it is nice to see Phoebe in a relationship, but even that's not enough.

their latest new episode was funny, best in a while IMO, but there's only been two good ones this season, the Thanksgiving one and the most recent
