Tivo Series2, Mac, & Linksys USB Ethernet Adapter

I have my Tivo Series 2 connected to a Linksys USB 10/100tx USB to Ethernet adapter and a Linksys router. I see the Tivo on the router and have successfully completed a "call" over the internet. However, I cannot FTP the Tivo. I always receive an authentication request from Tivo to access the drive. What am I supposed to enter? Others seem to be able to access the drive by FTP with no problems.

As far as I know, there is no stable way to get ftp access on a Series 2 machine. I can't claim to have the latest knowledge on this front, but that's the best info I have.

So what can a Mac do to get access to the Tivo drive?

No one can, Mac or Windows.

I hear everyone chatting about the files on the Tivo. I just can't open the Tivo and take out the drive and put it into a PC to view everything. There must be a way to view the contents and ...

There is code in the PROM on the motherboard that checks the files at bootup, and if it notices a discrepancy it copies a known-good version over the altered file. Only the series 2 units have this, series 1's are still totally hackable.

Actually, I'm talking about when I use the Mac's "Connect to Server" feature and type in: ftp://theTivo'sIP

After I press Go, the Tivo asks for a username and password. If I enter one that's incorrect, I can't open the Tivo. Do you know what those codes are?

If you can log into the Tivo, (maybe you can on the series 2, I'm planning on getting one this weekend after a cool demo I saw with Tivo and some of the Apple stuff ) have you tried anonymous? Just a suggestion. Additionally, can you log into the machine via terminal?

I don't know how to logon using Terminal. Anonymous didn't work. Can you tell me about the cool Apple stuff?
