Can I only record part of a program?

I apologize if this has been asked a million times, but I read the FAQ and could not find it. Is there any way of only recording a part of a program? For example a music video, or segment of a talk show?

yes, watch the show up to the point that you want to start recording.
change the channel and then back again to clear the buffer.
hit the record button and your recording will begin at that exact point.
then stop recording whenever you wish.

Or set up a manual recording if you know the exact times you want. This has the drawback that it will be labeled "Manual Recording <date>" rather than the name of the show.
