Commands for swapping A drives on DSR6000 DirecTivo?

I'm swapping in a new Seagate 120 GB drive (hopefully very quiet) for my current 80 GB Maxtor drive (not so quiet). From the instructions for MFS Tools 2.0, I should have to use the following commands (assumes original Tivo drive is secondary master and new drive is primary slae):

dd if=/dev/hdc of=/dev/hdb bs=1024k

I then take the 120 GB drive (new drive) out of the PC and test it on the DSR6000 to make sure it starts up. I then isse this command (with the original Tivo drive as the secondary master and the new drive as the primary master back in the PC):

mfsbackup -Tao - /dev/hdc | mfsrestore -s 127 -xzpi - /dev/hda

Do I need to go through both of these steps (each takes several hours)? Is there a single command to copy everything (including recordings) from a current A drive to a new, larger A drive?

Thanks,
Peter

After a closer read of the instructions, it looks like the dd command make an exact copy (partitions, etc.) and does not expand to the usable space if the new A drive is larger.

The mfsbackup command appears to be the one I want to execute as it will copy everything (setup, season passes and recordings) and will expand to use all the space on the new drive (120 GB on the new drive versus 80 GB on the old drive).

Is this correct? I just need to execute this command:

mfsbackup -Tao - /dev/hdc | mfsrestore -s 127 -xzpi - /dev/hda

with the new drive as the primary master and the old drive as the secondary master?

Thanks,
Peter

That looks right. This will take several hours. If you don't want the recordings, you can do a much faster backup and restore, but this should work.

Thanks. I have all the episodes of 24 from this season to watch along with about 10-20 hours of other shows that I want to keep.
