Fix the IR Blaster and Support Serial Control
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

1) Fix the IR blaster. If we need an "ir-fort" then say so, make a cheap plastic thing that sticks to the front of our cable boxes. It drives me nuts when it blows a channel change.
2) More support for serial control of cable boxes. I know, I know, the cable company has to support serial, your box needs this firmware, blah blah blah.

I agree about the serial connection. I have one on my cable box and it worked great until TiVo decided to disable the feature (for what reason I dont know).
As far as the IR lights are concerned, I added one extra feature to TiVo support's recommendations: I enclosed the entire arangement in a cupboard. Just about the only light my cable box ever recieves is from the Tivo.
After I did that, and changed my IR code to the slowest available setting, I have not had any missed channel changes, and its been over 60 days (and my TiVo does a lot of channel changing) :)
