Can FX, others get more obnoxious?

Is anyone else getting annoyed with the large show ads that FX and others display in the lower portion of the screen just when they come back from commercials? I for one, will NOT be watching LUCKY on FX when it starts.

Better get use to it. I think this is a response to DVRs and the 30 second skip and ReplayTV CA. TNN is just as bad. My guess is just like the logo that just some channels was doing a few years back. Now all of them have logos in the right hand corner. Expect the same for this. A few channels now. All of them a year or so down the line

Funny, they don't do this on The Shield. Guess they don't want to tattoo their flagship show.

What's really bad is when the logo and show ads block the opening credits and scenes in the show.
How do people using closed captioning like this?
The news channels are getting worse. The lower banner is blocking the news in order to scroll other news.
Warning: With war news going on, don't leave your RPTV or Plasma screens on the same channel too long.
Maybe it's time to stop watching TV? Nah, never happen.

I was watching Children of Dune...the SciFi logo was on top of the actual picture (film strip) even though it was shown in widescreen.
Then, while watching Farscape and Stargate, the Children of Dune promo used up half of the widescreen black bar and even started encroching on the actual picture.
And I'm sitting here watching Fox News right now...I swear a full 1/3rd or more is taken up by "Terror Alert: High" the Fox News spinning cube, News Title, News Ticker, Clock, Stock Ticker, etc. It got so bad at one point that even the news anchor told them to lose it so he could actually show something.

They probably don't see a problem, since most televisions superimpose Closed Captioning over banner ads and all other items on the screen anyway.

I hate the banner used on all of the news channels. It is just plain disruptive.
I also plan not to watch Space Cowboys on TNT. That promo is worse than the Lucky one on FX.
Maybe I'll turn on CC in order to block the banner.:)
[edit to add]
Well, that didn't work. It only blocks about the top third of the banner. And, some CC is at the top of the screen.

The worst one I saw was a news channel showing the end of a basketball game and the little cube with the score in it was hidden by the station cube.

Bumping this so that you can respond with what channels you find are most obnoxious with regards to channel logos, usage of a banner, etc.

Easy:
1-4 CNN, CNNH, FNC, MSNBC etc.
- Banners, etc, but no ads
3: TNN
- Squished screen
- Current show label
- Semi-obnoxius channel label (opaque)
4: SciFi
- Scifi logo on picture even in letterboxed shows
- HUGE promos
- Credits are squised to 20% original size
- Current show label
5: F/X
- (Already mentioned)
6: USA
- Similar to SciFi (same network owners)

I guess you don't watch TNN.

I don't think it's in response to DVRs. Rather, I think it's experimenting to determine the best method for when DVRs or other current commercial-avoiding equipment is common. Remember, statistically, no one currently has DVRs :)
I refuse to watch TNN shows because of the "widescreen" effect that they use. I'm not sure if they do it to all shows, but, after watching 10 minutes of a MADTV rerun, I couldn't handle it anymore.
I don't really mind the translucent logos, but those that have color or block out subtitles must go!

Sci Fi showed Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade a couple weeks ago in widescreen letterbox format. The Sci Fi logo was mostly in the black bar area on the bottom right, except for a tiny bit that barely appeared in the display area for the movie. I ripped it off my PVR and encoded it as a 2-disc DIVX version. I cropped out the black bars and generated new ones to keep the aspect ratio correct on my TV. Although that tiny bit of the Sci Fi logo that couldn't be cropped out (without cutting some of the bottom picture off) is showing, the copy still looks better than my retail VHS version I bought several years ago. When is this going to DVD again?

Indiana Jones will be released to DVD once Mr. Spielburg edits guns to be walkie-talkies and Nazis to be Care-Bears.

Yesterday CNN had their "breaking news" banner over Saddam's speech, and the anchor said something like "Can we take off the banner so we can see more of the picture..."
They didn't.
It was classic.

Bugs that cover up sub-titles really annoy the crap out of me.
