ip address change on turbonet

I've just upgraded my Thomson Scenium UK Tivo with a 120Gb drop in drive (pre-imaged by Kesh - www.pacelink.co.uk - 028 6863 1449 - highly recommended) and a Turbonet card from www.laser.com.

The guy at Kesh kindly ran nic_install on the drive for me, so all I had to do was plug in the card - literally a plug-and-play upgrade : open lid, swap drive over, plug in network card, connect cat5, close lid :p

Only trouble is, when he ran nic_install he set up an IP of 192.168.1.200, and my NAT router is on the 192.168.0.1/24 subnet. I've got it working by changing my router to 192.168.1.1/24 but I've got two problems : I run a VPN to the office that uses this subnet, and my Tivo can't talk to the outside world

Two questions : has anyone got a copy of the nic_install script so I can work out what to change where for the Tivo and Gateway's respective IP addresses. Alternatively does anyone know off the top of their head how to do it (interestingly  my route command is just an empty shell script, and route.tivo which looks like it replaces it has some sort of illegal operation bug in it)?

All help greatfully received

nic_install is a program, not a script (or at least it is in Jafa's latest version). It looks as if you'd have to rerun nic_install to change the IP settings, though they are probably in some file somewhere...

Hi,

If you can temporally change your router to 192.168.1.x so you can access your tivo then you can change the ip address of the tivo using nic_config_tivo (tivo executable).

Telnet into into the tivo and try '/sbin/nic_config_tivo'

If this config program doesn't exist then download the driver-only version from my site and ftp nic_config_tivo to /tmp on the tivo. Then make it executable 'chmod +x /tmp/nic_config_tivo' and run it '/tmp/nic_config_tivo'

I hope this helps.

Nick
