Tivo AirNET Advice

I'm about to finally upgrade my Linksys router at home and go Wireless. I plan to buy the Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Broadband Router. In the process then get the WPC54G Wireless-G PC Card. In doing all this I really want to take my Tivo to wireless network with what I believe is the only solution with series 1 units? I see the current Tivo AirNET card to be installed to Tivo series 1 units only supports Intercil Prism2/2.5 chipset which is old. I don't believe the Linksys Wireless card I plan to get has that chipset. Does anyone know of a newer install for my Sony series 1 Tivo or has anyone had experience getting one of these newer Wireless G cards working with your Tivo's? Can I just update the drivers or what? I've read some of the posts here and seen most people can't even get it connected with WEP activiated although this solution says it supports it. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I don't buy something that wont work if someone has had success or I can gain from your experiences with this.

Hi,
My appologies but the tivo does not support CardBus and all the 802.11g cards are CardBus, not PCMCIA.
You can, however use any prism 802.11b PCMCIA card and it will work fine in the tivo and work fine with your router.

OK, I figured that much but was just hoping I could get that Linksys one to work as it does support 802.11b. Can you tell me which cards are Prism based that WILL work with the TivoAirnet solution? That way I will get one people are sure works.

The Netgear MA401 definately works. I've just installed one.

Thanks Rick and did you get the WEP working? Do you think I will have issues with this using the new Linksys Wireless G - WRT54G model?

I too am about to go wireless at my house and plan to use Wireless-G. I would like to set up an Airnet to my DSR6000. I guess I will use an 80211b wireless card in there.
My question is, what are the chances of a Cardbus Airnet being made?

Be careful with that.. I believe I just read that your G network will be taken down to B speeds if there is even one B device.
Seems to me that the better solution would be to get a Turbonet and run it to a G access point. That's what I'm doing, albeit with a B network instead.

The MA401 works fine with WEP-128bit. However, this is to a Netgear 824M Wireless AP/Router, which is 'b' rather than 'g'.

Thanks for the info. This solution is a little more expensive and I would have to cut a hole for the network cable but I do want to run at the higher speed between me, my wife's and kids computers.

It won't take it down to B speeds, but it will be a little slower than if you had an all G network.
