Channel 73

I've had serial control enabled for a few weeks now and have had only 1 problem with it, but it's a weird one.

First some background - I've got an 80 hour S2 and digital cable through Comcast (was AT&T) in Salem, MA. My cable box supports serial control just fine.

Last night attempted to watch the 3rd movie we've ever recorded on Turner Classic Movies (TCM). Noticed it was having lots of problems changing the channel - it tried 4 or 5 times and never did end up on 073, even though we actually see the digits appearing on the cable box.

Didn't think much of it (failures happen) - but when the 4th movie did the same thing, a light bulb went off when we realized the first 2 missed movies were also on TCM.

So off I go to system setup, verify that 73 is listed in both channels I receive and my favorites. Go to guide data and TCM is listed, but if I try to go to it, no dice! Same failure. Here's the kicker - if I go to 072 and press channel up... it goes to 074! Same thing the other way...

Now this isn't a crucial problem, since apparently Comcast broadcasts 2 versions of TCM - 073 and one in the 2xx range. I'm assuming the lower one is analog and the upper is digital - perhaps that has something to do with it...

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I haven't had this problem but I have some advice. GET RID OF DIGITAL CABLE! Oh how I hate Comcast. It's only been a couple of months and we've had several phone problem with them. I'm now a very happy Verizon customer. BTW, we're neighbors. I live in Lynn.
