I have a series 1 and a series 2. The series one is at 3.01. The series two at 3.2. Can I take the 2 120 drives out of the series two and place them in the series 1? The reason I want to do this is there seems to be worse picture quality on th S2. Also, the S2 seems to have some type of ground loop problem. The S1 has been very dependable. So I would like to use the 2 120 drives to upgrade the S1. Can I just swap drives? Or will them being at differant software versions screw it up. I intend to then just take original S2 drive and reinstall it an sell on ebay.

No, the software is not interchangeable between S1 and S2. You'd have to treat the disks as if they were blank for the purposes of upgrading.
