Season Pass problems

Ok I'm having a problem with the season pass. I have All My Children set to record everyday at 1 pm and I also have another show that also airs at 1 pm and other times but I have All My Children has a higher priority on the SP list the other show tapes at it's other times. Now yesterday I went to turn on my tv before work and I found the other show taping at 1 pm instead of All My Children. Why is it doing this it never did it before now 2 days in a row it has done this.

There is a 28 day rule so if it was a repeat within those days it will not record it and hit up the other show yo.

nope that's not it because All My Children is a soap opera and they don't have repeats but thanks anyways

Just set it up as a manual recording for that time with a higher priority and it will always record at that time (regardless if its a rerun or not).

Check the Recording History. Why does TiVo say that All My Children didn't record?

Posted by: mikedaly

This is undoubtedly because the show was pre-empted by war coverage. So TiVo thinks it already recorded it, when in fact it didn't (since the networks didn't show it). Now that the networks are showing programs which were pre-empted, TiVo isn't recording them.

Change your SP to "First runs and Repeats" for a week or two.

I don't think they ever repeat sopa operas, do they? If not, I'd leave the SP set to first runs and repeats, that way you'll always avoid this problem in the future.

"First run and repeats" will not necessarily work in this case, where the problem is an incorrect application of the 28-day rule. The proper setting is "All (With Duplicates)."

They very rarely repeat soap operas, and when they do, it's usually special holiday episodes from years past that all the fans of those shows will no doubt want to watch again anyway.

Since all the ABC soaps have recently added guide data, this is going to be a problem for the rest of the war. Go with trainman's suggestion and change your AMC SP to "all with duplicates" and you won't have to worry about it for the rest of the war.

Also--remember that if you have SoapNet, you can catch the rebroadcasts of the shows you missed.
