Iwas listening to a phone in on Talksport this lunchtime and they had a chap from What HI-fi on answering questions (Andy somebody:confused: ).
One of the questions was about Tivo availability in the UK(the presenter commented "what is a Tivo"), anyway the What Hi- Fi chap indicated that several companies were in discussion with Tivo about licensing their technology for the UK, he wouldn't name them as he said it was all confidential and that nothing is so far concrete, but it sounds promising :)

I think most of us already know that TiVo is looking to license its technology. I believe they have had a deal with Sony for many months, and probably other companies. I don't think this means there is hope for new standalone units however. It's more likely the technology will be incorporated into combined IDTV/PVR products. That sounds interesting, and is perhaps the only way forward for them - ie to bundle the technology as a bit-part feature of something bigger and more expensive that people are used to buying. Their problem thus far has been convincing people that TiVo is something worth paying for in its own right.
