Tivo with Labgear DTT box

Now I know that Tivo will work with a Labgear DTT box - and I am considering getting one - out of all the DTT boxes around it seems to be one of the better ones - at least from the write ups.

However a few questions - will I need to use the plug in IR blaster leads - or should the front IR blaster be ok - or will it depend on the room layout, and positioning of boxes - how sensitive are these things?

Also do you just leave the DTT box on all the time - the Labgear website says to leave the box in standby if not being used to listen out for software updates - but I presume a Tivo will always need it powered on.

Also I know there have been recent software updates transmitted over the air which have made it more reliable - if anyone has bought a box recently was it already upgraded with the software level?

Thanks

1) It'll depend on room layout. Most find the wands more reliable.
2) Yes, the STB stays on all the time
