In the meantime, Americans are relying on instinct when choosing a diversion. Sheri McLoughlin, a homemaker in Beaverton, Ore., says she isn't comfortable watching shows like "Alias," a drama about a young female spy. "It's almost like I feel I shouldn't be watching that unless I'm going to just watch the war coverage," Ms. McLoughlin says. Since the start of the war, "I'm turning away from [police dramas] like 'CSI' and 'Law & Order' and turning more to something like 'Everybody Loves Raymond,' " she says.
Have you dropped any of your favorite shows since the start of the war. I haven't given up any of my favorites. Am still watching Alias, CSI, Law & Order and everything else on my To Do List.

The only change is that if I am somewhere where I'm watching TV without TiVo (like at the hotel I'm at for the next few days), I tend to focus on the news stations, simply because I know whats gonna be on. But I don't shy away from any specific shows. It is a little wierd watching a show that's a little older that might be making fun of the original Gulf War or Saddam (like the boy band episode of the Simpsons).

Watching "24" has been kind of eerie lately. I still can't take Anderson Cooper on CNN as seriously as I should, I keep waiting to hear him say, "Who is the Mole?".

No, my viewing habits haven't changed a whit. I get my war news from the newspapers and on-line.

I drive all day and hear war updates on the newsradio stations. I also read the papers. My TV viewing hasn't changed much. I'll sometimes watch the news channels live, but that's about it.

I've watched about 1000x as much Live TV in the lst two weeks as I have in the last 2 years.

Not a bit. I listen to a bit of public radio, and usually go online if I feel the need to see pics. My tivo still records my old favorites, both serious and terrorist-y (Alias, 24) and silly and frivolous (Survivor, Trading Spaces, etc.).
I have only so much free time and only so much mental and emotional energy to expend in a day. If I spent so much time watching CNN that I didn't have time to watch my season passes, I'd probably go crazy.

The only change for me is: I have to pad Jimmy Kimmel show by about 15 minutes...

I fhave a TV card in my pc and find myself watching (actually more listening than watching) one of the news channels (usually CNN) for a while before I head to bed. My other viewing habits are all the same.

The biggest change is I now turn on the news in the morning to see if the world is still there. Sounds wierd, but those of us on the left coast learned of the events on 9/11 on the early morning news after much had already happened.

Heh, I do the same but with CNN.com. Guess I'm more of a computer junkie than a tv junkie. Not my favorite source for news, but if something really bad happened, I'd rather find out by a quick and easy headline (and then turn on the radio or tv) than the way I heard about, say, the space shuttle. (Turned on public radio and didn't know what was happening for several minutes, but could tell by the tone of their voice that it was terrible. Now that was torturous. Wish I just had the headline first.) But yeah, the first thing I do ever morning is sit and cringe in front of my computer, until I am reassured that the level of disaster in the world is not significantly greater than it was yesterday...

I'm watching mostly the same shows... but I'm watching a lot more WorldLink TV and Freespeech TV (FSTV) than I usually do. Only places you can get some world perspective on the current events.
Otherwise, pretty much the same.. for the latest up-to-the-moment news I tend to go to news.google.com, not the tv.

I started turning to MSNBC more for live news. I don't really know why, I just seem to prefer their coverage of the war. I am watching more live tv then usual as well

A lot more live TV news, rather than waiting for the cable box to switch channels if I want to hop around the news networks.
Otherwise, no real changes.

add me to the MSNBC list. the biggest change for me is my tivo is filling up with shows i havent watched since the war started. i will be catching up as most of the news is so repetitive(its getting easier to tell when they have nothing new to say), and i watch less and less.

The Hollywood fantasyland where evil Germans and elitist white male military generals are the only PC villians has become more and more unwatchable given recent events.
A pity as I'd enjoyed the show and the cast's acting performances.
Well, except for "Kim's" acting.

OK, so I'm an Aaron Brown junkie. I've been watching his four-hour show every evening.
The times Anderson Cooper fills in I make use of the FF button plenty.
Although I have to admit it's kinda funny to see some of the embeds put him in his place. The other night Walter Rogers had to ask him what to heck he was asking

Its changed my viewing habits...I avoid the news. I'm sick of hearing how we're losing the war!
I'll occasionally get a Fox update...that's it.
I personally hope they sent Sydney Bristoe into Bagdad to take care of Saddam!

I've gotten very adept at using PIP and jugling two remotes. This is necessiary because the frustratingly slow channel change speed of TiVo.
Sometimes I'll have TiVo on the local news station, and CNN/MSNBC/FOXNews on the TV Tuner. While I watch the local news channel, I'll use switch the PIP channel between the cables news channels for live battles or anything else new or dramatic. If I see something (or when local new goes to commercials or sports), I'll hit swap on the TV remote and watcht he cable channel with TiVo in the PIP. If I see something in the TiVo PIP I want to watch but cable news is too good at the moment to switch from, I can pause TiVo in the PIP.
Then the wife just roles her eyes ;)

I am a news junkie....
Yes, it has changed, I used to be a CNN fan, and now I almost always watch Fox news ... CNN sucks now.

No the war hasn't changed my viewing habits. Just that I have Fox News on in the background instead of the radio. I will continue to watch CSI, Blue and all my other shows.
