Networking Question on HMO
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've purchased HMO, but haven't gotten 4.0 downloaded yet. I've gone through the HMO FAQs at tivo.com, but I've got a question that wasn't answered there, as far as I can tell.
Once 4.0 is installed, and my TiVos find the network, will I have to turn File Sharing on for HMO to work?

As I read the new manual, it does NOT use MS File Sharing, instead there is a SERVER program that runs on the PC, along with a Tivo Beacon Service which appears to be a locator service. The HMO enabled Tivo will "know" how to find a Tivo Server and access the files.
Now that the software is downloadable easier, it looks pretty sharp.

I should have said that I've got a Mac. It's definitely not going to use MS File Sharing. :) Is there something in OS X that needs to be tweaked?

Once you install the Mac software, there is a new control panel. It only works with 10.2. It allows you to pick the iTunes play lists you want and the iPhoto albums you want.

All it says is:
A Mac with Mac OS X v10.2 or later
iTunes 3 for music
iPhoto 2 for photos
Install the TiVoDesktop package and follow your nose. No tweaking indicated.

You can download the Mac version of TiVo Desktop to get started.
Information about how to install and use the Mac version (as well as the Windows version) can be found in the Service Update Guide.
Once you install it and enable sharing in the TiVo Desktop control panel, you should be set. We are in the process of updating our online support content to include information for Mac users.
