Since my 60hr was the Dave Carr charity TiVo, I named it Dave. And the 80hr (thanks to a suggestion from Loubob57) is Hal. :)
"Hal, please start transferring Lost inSpace over to me."
"I'm sorry, Dave... I'm afraid I can't do that."

I named mine after the room it was in.
I'm assuming if you rename your TiVo on the website, the next time it calls in that the TiVo will learn its new name?

Mine is just TiVo. But then, I only have one. I was never one to rename my stuff, though I did dub my iPod "podre."
Looking forward to 4.0/HMO!

Several of my recorders have had names for quite some time now:- My first recorder is the only one that has a silver-accented bezel, so it is of course named Silvio.
- My second recorder is Steve-o. (I don't know, it just looked like a Steve-o! :p)
- My third recorder has some hardware problems, so it is affectionately named Defectivo.
- My fourth and fifth recorders have yet to be named. Any suggestions, staying within the general theme?
If anyone's wondering why I ever bothered to name my TiVo recorders at all, it's because I have my system set up so that whenever I switch to a device on my remote, the name of the device is spoken through my speakers, in a computer-generated female voice. It quickly became boring hearing her say "TiVo #1", "TiVo #2", etc. Hence the names.

OK, how about "Peggy-O" from the traditional song. It's on Simon & Garfunkel's first album.

In case you didn't see it, you might be interested to know that "Silent Running" was featured (in a small way) in the latest episode of HBO's "Six Feet Under."

When we first got a TiVo, my wife quipped that we were both now "Masters of Space and Time" (because of our ability to effortlessly watch what we want when we want .... well almost).
So, allowing for the 16 character limit, our TiVo is now "MasterSpace-Time"

You should buy a second one so you each have your own. Then you name one "Space" and the other "Time"

I named mine "Jeanne's Tivo" -- not very imaginative ...

Phil?
I named mine TiVos 1 through 4 as those are the remote codes to which they respond. But maybe I might change them to Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Maybe also add my 5th to my list (but serviceless) as "Sue". (Technically my third, a Philips 20hr unexpanded.)
Or Xana, Oshar, Horek, Quinn, and Eternal.

OK, I have given this some thought. From now on, I'm calling the guy, "Mister TiVo." It seems polite at first, but I pity the fool who don't respect it.
No HMO yet? That's just jibba jabba!

I named the two S2 units after my cats -- Scully and Mulder. The third unit, an S1 that's out of the loop, is named Skinner. :D

My computer's name is Grand Central. The second hard drive on my computer is named Union Station (because it's the one that has Mac OS 9 installed on it, and it therefore allows the union of OS X and OS 9, aka "Classic mode," to take place).
To continue the theme, my TiVo's name is now Penn Station.
Oh, and the name of my wireless network is, of course, Amtrak. :D

I thought for sure somebody would have mentioned these names already... but I named mine "Kirk" and "Spock"

Naming convention is Texas cities that start with San (e.g., San Saba, San Antonio, San Benito, etc.)

I named my SVR-3000 "Muad'Dib"...
"Children of Dune" on SciFi was one of the first shows I recorded on a TiVo and the SVR-3000 looks like it has a blue glowing "eye". I have also begun to worship my TiVo...

Figuring only I would remember which TiVo is Bart or Lisa, I went with the dull "Living Room" name. There will be a second TiVo before the rebate offer ends this month. [Handel chorus] And his name... shall be... Bedroom. [/Handel chorus]

Living Room, Bedroom...
Posted merely to thank Patchwork for making my wife laugh uproariously. :)
