Hard drive died

I upgaded my SA Tivo with a kit so all I had to do is install the new second hard drive and everything worked. Did this in December-2002. Now the original hard drive #1 died. I have another Tivo I am not using and can take the hard drive out of and put in the upgraded one. When I do that it doesn't recognize the second hard drive. Any tricks to this?I don't want to put the newer hard drive in the unit I am not useing cause the modem is bad. TIA for any help. PAT

Is your "broken modem" TiVo a two drive unit? Did you set the old working A drive as the Master drive? A thought (but I'm not sure) is that you may also need to re-Bless the B drive.
