I was looking at the TiVo website and found a link to TiVoShanan's HMO video. Go to http://www.tivo.com/4.9.4.asp and at the top right hand corner click on the demo link and it shows the video!

I actually contacted Comcast through Planetfeedback about them blocking Teleworld programs on Discovery and received a call on my answering machine from someone named Karin Corregan (spelling probably wrong) the corporate office regarding this.

I think she misunderstood though, because she said marketting would be researching this and contacting Discovery about informercials.

I don't expect too much to come about from this, but I did get a direct number to contact her. I haven't bothered calling as of yet though.

Finally - I got to see these. At first, my PC just put up a blank frame for the demo, even after I disabled my firewall. I found I had to clear the browser cache, as apparently it still had the version of the page that the firewall had "filtered". Now I get to see the delectable Shanan do her thing. (Shanan has another fan club on alt.video.ptv.tivo...)

I also have comcast and just noticed that for the first time I had the video clips for HMO and the Acura ads on my Tivo. It appears that my Tivo made a successful service call on Friday morning. Did tivo move the teleworld programming?

I'm not sure if Comcast is actively blocking those teleworld ads. On my system, Comcast of Union (NJ), Discovery is shared with TV Asia. From like 1AM until 9AM it is TV Asia. I think it is just a matter of the channel sharing that is preventing the ad from being shown. If Discovery had the infomercial at say, 11AM, then Comcast wouldn't be blocking it.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Comcast is singling out the TiVo program for "blocking" - rather, these Comcast affiliates are choosing to show non-DSC programming during this time slot, which they are allowed to do. If TiVo wanted to prevent preemption, they'd have to pay more for a different timeslot. Perhaps TiVo did this.

I think someone said it aired on The Learning Channel this week, which may explain why some people got it when they don't usually. Next week it's back on Discovery.
