This is a warning to both developers and users. If you have TiVo stream a file that is not a valid .mp3 file there is a chance your TiVo will reboot.

This goes for files with .mp3 extensions that really aren't and for programmers developing their own servers.

In my case I was using an older version of the J River Media Server which converted some audio files incorrectly. When I tried to listen to them on my TiVo it either did nothing or caused the TiVo to reboot.

On a side note, HMO doesn't handle animated Gifs either, but at least they won't cause a reboot.
