"Legally Blonde"

I expected to hate this movie, but ended up enjoying it a lot.

Reese Witherspoon plays a bimbo/airhead/Valley Girl type who expects her boyfrend to marry her when he heads to Harvard Law School after their graduation from college. Instead he dumps her, declaring she is too stupid to make a suitable wife for the Senator he plans to become.

After secluding herself in her all-pink bedroom for a few days, eating bon-bons and watching daytime TV, Reese decides she too will go to Harvard Law and win the BF back.

She starts studying for the LSAT, and prepares a video for the Admissions Committee, featuring herself cavorting in a bikini while she narrates a history of her accomplishments, such as organizing a protest by her sorority sisters when the house toilet paper is changed from Charmin to a lesser brand.

The members of the Admissions Committee drool all over their Brooks Brothers vests as they watch the video, and she is a shoo-in for admission even though one member points out that her major was "Fashion Design," and the subject of her Senior Thesis was "Polkadots - Then and Now."

I won't go further into the story, other than to say that Reese does NOT turn out to be too stupid to learn the difference between a habeus and a corpus and flunk out during the first month, returning to Podunk to work ever after as a Hooters waitress.

Sort of a "Clueless meets Private Benjamin," if you saw those movies, set against the improbable backdrop of Law School. Playing on Showtime currently, and probably will migrate to the other movie channels in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the link

Pleasantville and Legally Blonde is the only movies I seen that she's in.

27 ! I did not think she was that old. She look really young for her age.

I'm going to have to rent some of her other stuff.

I'd rent "Election." Easily my favorite movie that she's in.

She is a major talent. I first sasw her in "Pleasantville," then "Election" and then HAD to go see her in "Legally Blonde."

Gotta be one of the funniest movies ever made IMO.

"Election" is great. Excellent performance. "Sweet Home Alabama" is good, and it's her most recent. Check out "Cruel Intentions" if you like eye candy.

"Cruel Intentions" has to be one of my guiltiest pleasures. I loved that movie (but don't tell anyone). :D
