Alias DVD deal

DVDSoon is selling the Alias Season 1 DVD set for $51.98 Canadian, or about $36 US, plus about $3 shipping! I know some people are down on DVDSoon, but although their shipping can be painfully slow, I've never had any other problem with them, and every once in a while they have a deal like this that makes it worth the wait. I've also noticed that when they have a deal like this, the price starts going up as it gets closer to the release date...

At today's exchange rate, and including shipping to the US, that comes to $38.42. Amazon, even with free shipping, comes in at $52.49. Good tip.

But is it worth that $14 to have to wait a month or more after release to get the dvds?

Well, obviously it is for me!

What about DeepDiscountDVD.com? I don't see Alias "available" yet, but that's not unusual for them as it doesn't come out until September. Their prices are usually very good (+free shipping), well under Amazon/B+N prices typically....

Example:

Homicide:LOTS, Season 1 & 2 (13 episodes)

List: $69.95
Amazon: $52+change
DeepDiscountDVD.com: $37+change

(Incidentally, the List and Amazon prices for Alias are identical to the Homicide prices/discounts (25% off list)...one would expect DDDVD to offer Alias @ a similar discount....)

I still haven't had time to watch any of the 24 or Babylon 5 DVDs I bought last year. I don't think a month is going to make much of a difference. :D

DeepDiscount is great; I buy more stuff from them than probably everybody else combined. But their lowest-price gaurantee is only with American dealers, not Canadian, and sometimes DVDSoon, especially on advance orders for box sets, has a price significantly lower than anybody else will ever have. It's a gamble, because if you wait and see what DDD will do, by the time they list it, DVDSoon's price will probably be higher, but if you buy now (and one annoying thing about DVDSoon is that they charge you when you place the order, not when they ship), you MIGHT find it for the same price somewhere more convenient later. In this case, I placed the order.
