weird "unable to get season pass" bug

I hit an interesting bug yesterday that is still repro today. I tried to get a season pass for "Ultimate Underwater Machines" on TLC on 6/3 at 3 pm (since I caught the show midway thru and wanted to record the next occurrence of it and I couldn't "view upcoming episodes", the choice wasn't there).
So, I went to browse by channel, and paged to that time, and selected "Get a Season Pass". When I hit select, I got the error:
The Recorder is currently unable to setup a Season Pass for this program. Some information about this program is still being organized.
Please try again in 1-3 hours.
I've tried repeatedly after 3 hours. Still no good. Even after 24 hours, it's still happening. I just hacked my unit over the weekend to add an IBM 75GXP, I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Weird!

I don't think the hack has anything to do with it. There is the known issue that you cannot set up SP's while the downloded guide data is still indexing etc. My guess is that's what you are seeing.

Well, I don't remember the indexing time, but I know for certain that it the indexing and GC date had advanced when I tried it yesterday. I seriously doubt that I tried it when it was indexing again (no hard drive thrashing going on). I'll try it once again and report the GC and indexing time (as well as the time I tried it).

Perhaps your TiVo simply has an issue with the word 'Ultimate'...

I am having this same problem. It has been about sixteen hours since my guide update and it still says to wait 1-3 hours for season passes. Is it still indexing? (doesnt say it is)
Also, I have rebooted the unit. Will the unit continue indexing following a reboot?
thanks,
Graeber

Are you selecting an item to Season Pass at a time slot that has already passed? I've seen SP's fail under this condition when there are no other showings in the guide.

while we're on the subject of season's passes, i'm having trouble with the show "Bulls and Bears" ( i know- no stock talk!!!) it will record when i schedule each individual show, but when i attempt to get season's pass, that option doesn't show up as a choice! Also, on a few other shows, when i get season pass for first run only tivo records all showings even on the same channell! (always with cavuto on business and maria bart.. on cnbc.) any ideas???

The first problem (no season pass option showing up) is probably because the network listed it as a "special" or something like that and that says to tivo it is only going to be on once and hence the no season pass option. You can however create a wishlist for it. You can try contacting the network airing the show as tivo is reliant on the data given to them by the networks. This happened with the show Special Report with Brit Hume on Fox News Channel and someone contacted them about it and they fixed it.
The second is most likely because the network is not marking the shows as first runs and repeats appropriately. This happens all the time on Fox News Channel. I have SPs for The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes, first runs, and it tapes them all. I just do a view upcoming episodes and clear the repeats or clear them in the todo list. Or you could just setup a manual recording for a certain time each day, though if the time changed it wouldn't record it.

Try setting up to record that program and then go to do list and from ther try get season pass for this show. It worked for me on witchblade on TNT.

Are you sure "Ultimate Underwater Machines" is a Series?
For single occurrence shows that don't have a series ID you won't be able to season pass it or see upcoming episodes.
