hdvr2 and turbonet

I have just purchased an hdvr2 assuming that I would just pop a turbonet card into it for daily updates. But I am a bit afraid now because I saw a post that said that the series 2 did not support the turbonet. To the contrary, http://www.silicondust.com/turbonet/turbonet.html claims it does work in a series 2 directivo.

Which is true? or are both true? The example at http://www.silicondust.com/turbonet/turbonet.html showes a phillips, mine is a Hughes, I hope this does not make a difference, I dont have a telephone line.

Thanks in advance,

Clarke

There is simply no port to attach the card in any Series 2 unit.

You do have USB ports, and while unsupported, there are hacks around to use the USB and a USB to ethernet converter to get the dial-ins over ethernet.

Hi,

The Turbonet card is for a Series 1 tivo (SA or DTivo).

Series 2 does not have the host bus slot but has USB instead.

I appreciate the info, where can I find a guide on how to implement the hack?

I think you'll find it here:

What a load off my mind...I was afraid there for a little that I was screwed. Thanks for the information, I can now make my tivo act like a gentlemen and not use up a phone line unnecessarily (not to mention that I don't even have a phone line).
