DTivo Turbonet Upgrade Gone Awry

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

First of all, the posters on this forum are outstanding. (You know when someone starts their post like this, they're going to ask for help so I won't disappoint.)

This morning I was installing the TurboNET card on my SAT-T60. I originally started following Steve Jenkins Newbie Guide, but found halfway through that doesn't apply to the DTivos. Found the Silicon Dust guide, followed it (except didn't back-up, realizing now that I should have!) to the end and get a CANNOT BOOT KERNAL message.

The flash step might not have worked, I was fiddling with some cables and didn't actually see the "glitch" and the reboot.

I found this thread:
http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-v...?threadid=90532
which seems to indicate I need to re-enable the initrd? How is that done? Then if I need to do the flash step again, will that hurt anything? What about the fact that I've already done the nic_install when I apparently didn't need to?

All help is appreciated... my wife is giving me the "If you don't fix this....." look.

Thanks

Help please!

No TiVo for the weekend.... (gasp) ... suffering ... TiVo withdrawal ...

Hi,

If it can't boot the kernel then tivoflash did not run correctly.

Run tivoflash again and let the tivo boot.

Nick,

Thanks for your response. I hope we're able to get this working. Now when I run the /tivoflash/install command, I get the following:

.... (Normal messages I think)
Unmounting in-active Root ...
error writing /etc/mtab.tmp: No space left on device
ERROR: Unmount of '/mnt/tivo' failed.
ERROR: The exit code was 16.
ERROR: Cannot continue.

...then back to the prompt. What can I delete to make space? The Now Playing was quite full, but as I can't get it to boot, I can't go and delete things. There are shows on there that I'd prefer to keep if possible.

Additional info, I did follow the Steve Jenkins newbie guide and put the files he recommended on there already into the /var/hack directory. Could I delete those to free up space?

Again thanks for your help, I'll be online until late looking for a response.

-Dean
