I think this starts next Monday and replaces ExtendedPlay on TechTV.

Time will tell if it is any different.

I liked watching extended play ONLY for the video of the gameplay.

I cannot stand Adam, the host...

He is awful... he can't read copy the way it's meant to be delivered. The tongue and cheek comments are delivered horribly!!!

I miss Kate...

I like Adam and often find the show pretty amusing.

I can certainly understand why someone would not like him though.

Supposedly Morgan from The Screen Savers is working on Xplay. Don't know if she's the host or not.

Morgan is fine until she speaks, she presents like a piece of wood. I suggest they get an actual professional presenter but due to their cutbacks at TechTV they are all multitasking these days.

I can't stand Morgan at all. I always zipped past her segments on the Screen Savers.

I can tolerate Adam though. I usually just zip through Extended Play and watch the clips of a game I want to see.

One thing about Adam that drives me crazy is when he is on the Screen Savers. He talks at 100 miles an hour and doesn't make much sense. Course the Screen Savers is live and his show is taped so that is probably why he doesn't zip along on his show.

I think Morgan will be more tolerable on Xplay for the above reason. She will get hundreds of takes to get it right! Just like Adam probably gets multiple takes and is told to slow down. :)

By the way... This is off topic but still about TechTV.

When Chris Pirillo got canned I saw Leo post something on his blog about his moving back to call for help and Chris moving on to bigger things. Almost seemed like Leo was inferring that Chris was leaving on his own accord to something better.

Someone mentioned to me to check out Chris P's blog and his wife's blog at that time also for more scoop.

I remember her mentioning (she didn't name names directly) something to the effect of certain techtv personalities putting their own spin on it. Seemed like she was referring to Leo.

Chris P. seemed to indicate more would be revealed down the road.

Did anybody here much more on this? I for one was glad to see him go.

I could never stand Pirillo...I would recordCall For Help daily, but would fast forward through it and only watch Brett Larson's "Mac Tip Of The Day". Now that Chris is history and Leo hosts CFH, I watch it almost in its entirety.

TechTv had another round of lay offs the day before Pirillo left. About 20 people got canned. They also combined the production units of Call For Help and The Screen Savers into one unit.

The new show Techtv show "Wired for Sex" is in the guide now. I still don't see "Unscrewed with Martin Sargent" yet.

The Techtv personalities don't bother me at all, I enjoy them. I just zip through segments I have no interest in. Extended Play is the most zipped through show I have a Season Pass for. I'm only interested in PC reviews, and they only show 0-2 an episode.

I do the same thing with Extended Play, but only zip through things I just have no interest in...I do have both an XBox and PC, but in the interest of cross platform I'll watch a review for some PS2 games as well.

Just watched the first episode of X Play, and Sweet Jesus, you couldn't possibly be more correct. Never in my life have I heard a "professional" that is anywhere near as bland as Morgan. Ugh. :down: :down: :down:

Ugh. Progress isn't always progress...

1) Morgan is irritating beyond belief. Her presentation sounds like a highschooler at debate club - no emotion at all, doesn't even seem sure of the subject on which she's speaking. And her jaw... squarest thing ever (can't rag on Botello's mouth anymore)

2) The show is taped - why in the world do they need the ear pieces?!?

3) Maybe it was just because it was the first show, but the 'special effects'... stop bobbing the damn camera around - it's irritating on MTV and it's irritating here. Stop with the black & white static picture. Stop showing the side view of the speaker's head. For the love of God, STOP TALKING TO THE ANNOUNCER!

4) Probably just perception, but it seemed like the old Extended Play show covered more games/reviews/etc. Maybe since they're doing 4 shows a week now, they're stretching out the content.

As I always try to look for something positive, the Battlefield 1942 rant cracked me up. Unfortunately, they made acting like a tool look amusing which may encourage the behavior.

I think Adam is the right fit for this show, and I think he's the integral part. Morgan is going to have to glide in - and perhaps it was just her first show. But even on The Screen Savers - her personality is just more mild mannered than Adam - so it might be quite a contrast from now on. Kate Botello had a personality that matched Adam.

Four times a week seems excessive - maybe twice at most. What's this about 2 weeks of new shows and then 2 of repeats? You've got to be kidding me? This is precisely the reason why they should only do two per week at a maximum.

Yeah, episode 2 of X Play pretty much stank as well. Can somebody spike Morgan;s Diet Coke with some grain alcohol please. Yikes. Hopefully they will re-re-vamp the show soon...

Wow.. that is so completely opposite of what I think of Adam...

His delivery stinks.. he really is stiff as a board up there. His joke timing is awful.. he accentuates the wrong words... just bad...bad..bad...

Adam's delivery may not be the best, but compared to Morgan's monotone/comatose/stoned/duh delivery, Adam is brilliant.

Anyway, I don't see how you can call him stiff as a board...he seems hopped up on speed all the time.

Hehe.. he might be hopping around but his body is stiff while he does it. :)

Not to mention his delivery.

What, I'm the only one that likes Morgan? I think she's hot. Not Sumi Das hot, but hot nonetheless.

I think Adam's OK, but I think the old show fit him better.

I could do without the MTV-style jerky camera, though.

She can be hot and still be a plank of wood as a presenter. I think she is hot as someone who sits at the back of The Screen Savers and pops up once in a while and sometimes shows a little leg. Actually having to look at her (and listen) for more than 5 minutes has kind of put me off.

It's so funny how different each person's perception is. The show was actually unwatchable to me when Kate was on it. It was unbelievable. I wanted some of the info I could get from the show, but just found her unbearable. It was pretty funny the number of people who emailed me when she left, I hadn't realized I had ranted about her that much.

Adam doesn't bother me. I prefer listening to him than when they let some of their, I don't know summer interns or something, get on camera.

The thing about Adam is at least he seems to actually like video games, which I never believed for a second about Kate.

Even when they were filming at conferences, she would show up just for the shoot and then hurry away. Adam would be there before and after wandering around and checking things out.

Haven't seen X Play yet, just set the season pass.

But, can we keep her for eye candy :p

Oh wait, maybe we can remove Morgan and have her and Sumi take over the "Wired For Sex" show and possibly get a little more involved :D with the show.

Just watched the second show and it's OK but it has upped the "silly" factor and it's getting a bit annoying. I liked Adam on Extended Play because he was just saracastic and silly enough to be fun, but now he's being stupid from start to end. Now at least Adam has the ability to be somewhat funny. Morgan telling a joke is like my 8 year old learning to read.

If Morgan is to stay as eye candy then she needs to wear better clothes.

I did not like Kate either BTW.

I finally watched this show, I think it was the second episode (Batman, Splinter Cell, etc.). I'd rate it as okay. The production style (jerky cam, B/W shots) didn't really bug me too much, although it is very forced. Adam seems like he's into games, so even though he seems like a bit of a tool I can deal with him. Morgan is absolutely awful, and really brings the show down. Eye candy? Hmmm, I don't think so. Splinter Cell was better eye candy. I wish they'd do previews of games too and not just reviews, since I'm also interested in games that are coming out in the future, like Soul Calibur 2, XBox Wolfenstein, and Star Wars: KOTOR, and I'd like to see what they look like on my TV. I'll keep my SP (keep only the most recent show) for this and watch it when I'm in the mood. I still wish DirecTV got the G4 channel.

Well, I guess I must be the only one out there who thinks Morgan is Hot and that all you need is a pair of Ear Plugs.

Either way, they certainly need to change the format and production style of the show if they want to keep an audience.

Wow, what a horrible new format.

What Extended play had going for it was that it was a show about gaming and thats the only thing it focused on. It came in, told you about the game and got out.

Somebody decided that the show needed more appeal. And apparently a new intro, bad camera tricks (shaky cam and side shots in B&W), and comedic (and I use that word in the loosest possible sense) banter are what they thought would be appealing.

When Adam and Morgan start chatting I want to slit my own throat. As for Morgan's sex appeal, if I wanted something sexy there are a lot of other shows I could watch. The real reason I watch this show is the games. I've never thought that Morgan was very technical and I certainly don't think that she is a gamer. Getting a review from her feels like she is faking it. Whatever else you say about Adam at least he's really into games.

If I didn't have a Tivo there would be no way that I would ever sit through this show again. Even fast forwarding through everything but the games, I'm considering cancelling the season pass.

What a piece of crap show. Morgan is unbearable and the ratings are absolutely USELESS!!!

Morgan dogs Primal the entire review. She doesn't have hardly a single good thing to say about it. The score? 3 of 5

Adam reviews Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and has tons of good stuff to say about it. The score? 3 of 5

How the hell can a crappy game get the exact same score as a good game?!?! :confused: :mad:

The only good thing about the first week's shows was when Adam and Morgan were dividing up the games to review. And to say that was good is a bit of a stretch.

Why TechTV, why? And I really liked the intro to Extended Play (especially the remixed theme song). X Play is crap-tacular from start to finish. If I wasn't so into videogames, I might not keep watching!

Yuk, Morgan is *not* hot by any stretch of the imagination. Uggggg. Just my opinion obviously.

I acutally stopped watching Extended Play when they went weekly. Too many repeats and the same games every other day. Maybe I'll try to catch Xplay but Morgan is so terrible that I probably can't watch. I do find Adam pretty funny though.

I could care less about the ratings. Just go to gamerankings.com for that info. If I decide to keep watching this show, it would be mainly for the visuals. It's easier to watch a show like this than to download a bunch of gameplay movies off of websites. Also, a lot of websites have started adding subscription fees if you want to download movies.

It would be nice if the rest of the show (non gameplay videos) was entertaining. I actually thought the sarcastic review of Batman with all the humorous screenshots was pretty funny. It was also funny when they showed the best way to turn in Auto Modellista, by bouncing off the walls. They just need to get a new co-host and tone down the wanna-be chic directing style.
