I have the HMO. What would it take to play movies (avi's or mpg's) from my computer to Tivo?

Actually I do this all of the time. I do NOT use HMO mind you.

I have my Tivo to allow me to use the Svideo input on it on channel 101. My laptop has svideo out. I pipe the video and audio in to an input on the tivo and either watch it real time in buffer, or set up a manual record so that I can watch it later. With 4.0 and HMO you can not use tivoweb to change the title of a show but with my 3.0 S1 box I can and do.

Yes it's no faster than real time, but then again HMO isn't really if you are streaming.

so the answer is HMO doesn't help you but there are ways to do it. I've watched a number of AVI 700mb files on my tivo and have been happy with how to make it work.
