I wondered if there is a way of switching off the programme summaries. The reason is that in the last few weeks I've watched several cliffhanger programmes and the summary has given away the plot.

I do try simply not to read them but its impossible when they are on the screen just before I press the play button in Now Playing...

Yes you can.

Bring up the on-screen banner with description, then press the right button. This changes the style of the banner, one of which is the usual banner without description.

Then just make sure you press play from Now Playing instead of selecting the programme to see its details.

On the subject of programme summaries, is there anyway to view the FULL programme summary? Or scroll through it? I'm sure it must be something really obvious that I've missed on the remote :(

Typically the summary runs off the edge of the box available, in mid-sentence, which frustrates me more often than not. It usually gives an episode title, a list of actors (sometimes more than once), and then only gets a few words in about the show before being chopped off. Even viewing a recorded programme in Now Playing doesn't show the whole thing (dumping to VCR does show a nice intro screen with the full summary, if you start from the beginning, so the complete summary is definitely available).

Yes press the ENTER key on the remote to bring up a scrollable full description as well as lots of other stuff.

I stumbled across the pressing ENTER to get the full summary by accident, it's not the most obvious key to press :(

It was added in version 2.5.5 of the software and there isn't much screen realestate for a "press enter to see more info" message (well there probably is if they used PAL size screens but we seem to be limited to NTSC screen sizes in most cases :()

It took me a couple of years before I realised that it also jumps back and forth between the last two channels selected. I always wondered why it was labelled 'Enter/Jump'.

You can press Play from the first screen in Now Playing, when you have selected the programme title. That way you skip past the summary.

Heh... I didn't know that either! Enter was one of the keys I hadn't bothered to implement on my universal remote, but I might have to put it on now, as I quite often spend time alternating between a couple of music channels (switching every time they play something I hate. ;) ). Thanks!
