Just saw this on CNN... Bush will be announcing the end of the war at 9pm ET this Thursday, May 1st.
Yet another war related calamity with season passes!

Fox News said that President Bush will be askig the networks for twenty minutes.

Well, hopefully it's far enough in advance that they'll adjust the schedules and padding might not be necessary.

Jeff, you are more optimistic than most! The chance that a specific amount of time for each network for a live event out of their control will be decided upon and downloaded overnight tonight is somewhere between slim and none.

And if it's like Bush's announcement of the war, different networks will handle it differently, depending on whether and how much they do analysis afterward.
I fear this will be a night for ample padding and/or live TV. Sigh.

Fortunately, I already have tonights CSI thanks to the C-band feed. I can just pad out must see tv as much as needed.

Well, assuming that any of them actually try to update the guide data, the data for DirecTiVos is transmitted via satellite, so it can be changed up until almost the last minute. In any case, Thursday's about the only night I really watch shows the night that they're on, mainly Survivor, so I'll be around to make any adjustments.

I thought the satellite feed of guide data took place once a day, around 2:30am. Can it be more frequent and at any time of day?

Any time of day. A few weeks ago JAG got corrected (48 hours was scheduled) during the work day.

On their web sites, ABC (always the best at dealing with these things) says they're running My Wife & Kids at 7 & 7:30 (Central); the speech at 8; and an extended Primetime Live from 8:30-10. CBS has their regular schedule posted, but allows that there might be delays due to the speech. (Gee, ya think?!?) NBC, as usual, does not seem to be aware that there is a speech at all.

On the wnbc.com website (NBC's NYC station), tonight's listings show a new Friends from 8 to 8:40, a Friends repeat 8:40 to 9:00, Presidential Address 9:00 to 9:20, Friends repeat (probably continued) from 9:20 to 9:35, Will & Grace 9:35 to 10:10, and ER from 10:10 to 11:10.
Now, will TiVo get this all right?
Posted by: dcborn61
Well, nbc.com finally updated their website for the schedule for tonight:
8:00 - 8:40pm
Friends
8:40 - 9:00pm
Friends (Part I)
9:00 - 9:20pm
PRESIDENT BUSH PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS
9:20 - 9:34pm
Friends (Part 2)
9:34 -10:12pm
Will & Grace
10:12 - 11:12pm
ER
I'm willing to bet big money that our TIVO's know nothing about the shrub's speech.

Just checked my TiVo:
7:00 Survivor
8:20 CSI
9:12 ER
9:20 Without a Trace
10:12 10PM News
I'm impressed!

DTiVo, right Rob? No way my standalone will be accurate tonight. Right?
Anyway [bump]

So much for the 15 min Scrubs show tonight. :(
Posted by: ronsch
I'd happily trade the speech for the Scrubs show.

Yes, DirecTiVo...

aaah, cool. now to cancel what my tivo is doing and hand-schedule that in. hopefully the times are right.
eck, or maybe I'll just watch live, and skip to ER when CSI is done. I don't want to risk missing the end of CSI... much rather miss the beginning of ER

So ... east-coasters .... how is it turning out?
Posted by: cello
CSI just started a minute or two ago.
Posted by: ufo4sale
for the east cost when is without a trace on?
Posted by: MirclMax
West Coast schedule appears to be unaffected.
Posted by: jeff125va
CSI started at 9:25, ER started at 10:17 (both 5 minutes behind). I had put a 15 minute pad at the end to be safe, just left it at 15 in case it was closer to 6 minutes (my wife always likes next week's scenes).

In Seattle, ER started promptly at 10pm, despite the fact that the EPG had it at 10:12. I missed the first quarter of the show, and my extra padding at the end didn't do a damn thing...
