Just got 4.0 and I noticed that if you hit the info button they give you a listing of similar programs at the bottom. I had no idea that Angel and Gilmore Girls were similar shows. I may have to start watching. Or how about that GOLF is similar to Ally McBeal and All My Children? I'm going to start watching GOLF all the time! The West Wing is similar to Will and Grace and Seinfeld is similar to the Sopranos. WOW Tivo is going to get me to start watching a lot of new shows!

I'm sure you realize this, but just in case, Tivo isn't saying those programs are similar. It is saying that folks that like 1 also tend to like the other. There is evidently a correlation between West Wing and Will & Grace, even though the shows are just a wee bit different.

There are all sorts of ways these "similar programs" lists could be generated. See my thread on a recent "recommender systems" article. They certainly aren't perfect.

Well, Calista Flockhart's the same general size and shape as a golf tee... :D
