Gilmore Girls - "Keg! Max!" - I missed the end (Spoilers possible)

Well, last night we fired up the Tivo to watch this episode. Unfortunately the recording ended 36 minutes into the program - Rory introduces Lane's band, Lorelai does her bit of turndown at the inn, and then it switches back to the party briefly before my recording ends. I think this means that it pretty much skipped all the major events alluded to at the end of the previous episode. Can someone fill me in on what happened?

(Not sure what happened with the Tivo; best guess is that the cable company futzed and the signal blanked for a teeny bit but I don't really know.)

Jess and Rory got to kissing on a bed in an upstairs bedroom, and Jess tried to go farther than Rory wanted. (Note: he tried but did not succeed.) Rory ran down the stairs in tears, Dean saw what happened, and he and Jess had a big fight, which brought the cops. The last scene is Rory watching Jess stomping off into the night.

Meanwhile, Lorelei tried to get close to Max again, but he kept backing away because she makes him crazy. But that storyline ain't over, either.

Meanwhile, Lane drank too much beer and called her mother on the phone and spilled the beans about the band and wanting to go to the prom with Dave. No repercussions -- yet.

Spoiler for next week:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Jess's long-lost father shows up. This episode will pave the way to Jess's spin-off series.

I actually think that Lane's mom called the cops.

Really? Lane's mom? I missed that.

Well the cops showed up while the fight was still going so I don't think the fight is why they came. The first thing the cops said was "Dump out those cups and go home" This is something cops do when they know that alcohol is at a party with underage people. How did the cops know about the alcohol? My opinion is that since it was about 5 minutes after Lane called her mom that the cops showed up, Lane's mom had to have called them.

Is the second part of that spoiler correct or a joke? I hate that Jess guy the same way I hate Holden Caufield.

Yeah, I don't care for the Jess character too much as I don't believe that a girl who has her stuff together like Rory would see such a screw up. But then again, that probably happens more often than I care to think. In any case, I preferred when he was causing tension between Dean and Rory.

Anybody else notice that the principle was Freddy "Boom Boom" Washington from Welcome Back Kotter?

While Graymalkin's summary is accurate, it doesn't really tell the whole story either. Jess and Rory were messing around in the upstairs bedroom. Jess tried to unbuckle Rory's pants, she jumped up and basically said "WTF?" Her problem with the situation was more of the "You want it to happen here, like this?" variety than the NoWay! type. Jess was obviously upset about not graduating, and really wasn't being himself. He yelled at Rory, and Rory ran down the stairs crying because she didn't understand why he was upset with her, not necesarrily because he tried to go to far. Dean assumed Jess messed around with her,and sucker punched Jess. That's when the fight started.

And I also think that Lane's mom called the cops...

Jess is incredibly intelligent. Unfortunately, he has no focus. Rory is attracted to the intelligent part of him (as well as his looks). He'd been picking a fight with her because he felt bad about himself. That's also why he was pushing her more than she wanted. Dean was just being overprotective. His girlfriend won't like the fact that he got into a fight for no reason.

Lane's mom calling the cops is probably a good assumption. Now comes the question....will anyone get to go to Stars Hollow High's Prom?

Had I ever seen more than the few episodes of Kotter I might have noticed. But then again, the only things I pay very close attention to are Lorelei and Rory.

The one problem with that, I don't recall Lane telling her mother where the party was. Granted she could of called and they cruised around the town since it is supposedly so small...but it seemed that when the cops came, they were just driving by and then turned on the lights and stopped when the fight just happened (wink, wink) to move outside.

no, the fight was pushed out the door by several guys (one of which was the 21 year old). I just want to know how the Hummel was broken. They had been packed away. ;)

Yeah, that didn't make much sense to me either. They added that unnecessarily and it didn't add to the story any... I wonder why they even wrote that in. All of the valuables were wrapped up and placed in boxes... how a fight between two people somehow resulted in that one item (which happened to be the mother's favorite) getting "released" from the box that it was put away in and damaged in the process is beyond me.

Usually the writers of this show are really good and wouldn't write such an obvious flaw into the script, but everyone has their bad days, I guess.

Yes, but Lane's house could have caller ID or even Lane's mom could have dialed *69 and got the number then called the cops. It would not take them long to figure out the address of someones number. Even if that wasn't done, Lane's mom could of called the cops and said "the call I received just before this was from my underage daughter at a party with alcohol." That is if Lane's mom dialed the correct number (I know in Tallahassee this type of call cost 10 dollars) and is used to make complaints about a harassing phone call.
