Anyone Watching Punk'd?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Is anyone else out there watching Punk'd. My friend told me it was funny the other day while at work, so I used thet spiffy new Tivo Central Online and set up a season pass. I have seen like 5 episodes of it so far and it is hilarious.
For those of you who don't know, it is basically a hidden camera prank show hosted by Ashton Kutcher, but the targets are celebrities. The pranks are pulled off brillantly and it is just too funny to see how the stars react to some interesting situations.
Although some of the pranks are a bit over the top.
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
It looks like they made Justin Timberlake cry (although you can't tell for sure because of the way the scenes are cut, but he goes from looking upset to sitting on the ground with his hands on his face and looking all red and puffy). And dang... that thing they did to Pink...
Just wondering who else out there has been watching it and what people think :)

I too have been watching Punk'd. it really is pretty funny. The justin timberlake ep was actually the very first one, so no need to worry about spoilers...
I missed the end of the prank they pulled on Stephen Dorff b/c the show ran past 11 and TIVO wasn't set to pad (i didn't realize that show runs over). I would love to see his reaction to the joke.
the prank on Seth Green was good..you should look for it.

Blake and I love this show!

The 8 year old kid interviewing on the red carpet bits are really funny.
And the 2 bits where they have set up fake security checkpoints were great.... Having the guys walk through with their pants down..

Love the show. The little 8 year old interviewing stars is just great. I loved the one he did on Pauly Shore:
Pauly...what happaned?
To what?
Your career.
I"m just taking a little break.
For 10 years?
LOL. That was great!

Love the show, but Tivo records EVERY episode that comes on! I set it to record only new episodes, but it continues to record them all. It's like 25 a week. Pretty annoying.

And Kid Rock was impressed the way the kid was hitting on Pam, too...

Yeah... MTV and their bad guide data... Ugh! It's too bad they can't at least keep up with adding original air dates and episode numbers so that TiVO whould know which ones to record. I'll probably setup a manual recording for new episodes.

Even worse for me, it starts and ends 2 minutes early, so I get to see the end of shows I don't watch and miss the end of the one I do.

MTV is the worst scheduled network int he history of tv.
THeir programs don't only start late (sometimes nearly 5 minutes late), they can just as easily start early. And then of course scheduled programming just disappears and is replaced at the last minute.
I don't know what kind of last minute mojo they rely upon to schedule their network but it is weird and disconcerting.
Hitting a scheduled repeat for a first-aired you missed is a 50/50 propposition at best, and only if you pad it 15 minutes each way.

Yeah I've been watching this also, actually just started watching the last couple of weeks. Some of them are pretty funny. the PINK one was hilarious. She didn't know what was going on.

I've considered just canceling Punk'd entirely. They've had a couple of funny bits, but it's not worth the scheduling issues. If I didn't prune my To Do list, I'm pretty sure I'd have 120 hours of Punk'd every week. :)

I watched it for a bit until the lack of guide data annoyed me too much, and I hadn't seen a new episode in a few weeks. OK, but not great. I prefer Trigger Happy TV.

Ripoff of the Man Show Boy...
Which is sort of a ripoff of Stuttering John.
That doesn't make it any less hilarious. Just pointing it out.

That was the same thing I was thinking when I saw it. (last post)
I too enjoyed it though. I still have to watch that clip from the man show of the boy selling beer on the street every now and then to get a good laugh. Its still funny after I've seen it 5 or 6 times.
I agree stuttering John started it all. I am surprised Howard hasn't pointed that out yet, since he always talks about how everyone is always copying his ideas. For the note, I am a Stern fan!

The "eight year old boy" is actually 15. His name is Ryan Pinkston and he is also a martial arts expert. You can learn more about him at:

I love hidden camera shows but something about this one bothers me. I question the honesty of it. It often looks fake and edited in such a way that the celebrities are protected.
I like Ashton Kutcher on the 70's show and he comes off really funny on talk show appearances but he seems like a really annoying jerk to me on the Punked show.
And of course there is the scheduling and program info problem. There's never any guide data so you never know when a new episode is airing and of course you can't rely on MTV to ever start and stop a show on time.
For hidden camera shows I much prefer "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment" which is now on in reruns on the WB channel. I found this show entirely by accident and it is consistently funny and the host is extremely talented.

I've given up trying to watch this series. Did they only make 5 show? I must have recorded the same episodes a dozen time a piece.

I swear I saw that one the other day.. I was flipping around and saw this kid talking to people.
He told Christina Applegate that he loved her song "Genie in a bottle" (obviously confusing her with Christina Aguilera)...
It was funny watching her explain to him who she was :)
