Funniest "Simpsons" ever?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Evicted

Ok, I haven't been religious about watching "The Simpsons" the last few months... but the one with Moe and Maggie on last Sunday had me laughing out loud a number of times. Anyone else think this was up there with the great episodes? :)

Funniest scene for me - Homer on the beach with the ham, watching the sunset... :D

Posted by: gregpr

Fitting, because it was the season finale.

But my favorite remains the one where Bart sells his soul.

Posted by: EchoBravo

My favorite episode.
Homer has to gain weight to get on disability.

Best line in that episode:
Phone Operator: "Your fingers are too fat to dial this phone..."

Best line ever:
Chief Wiggam: "Where's your Mesiah now, heh heh!?"

Other best line ever:
Homer: "I know how to settle this."
Marge: "No more kickboxing!"

best episode ever: the one where Lisa becomes a vegetarian. I mean, that episode gave us at least 3 classic quotes: "sleep is where I'm a viking", "I'm going to bovine university!", and "it's just a little (wet, airborne, etc.), it's still good it's still good!"

and the gazpacho and the hamburger in the face and tasting the "ripe" cattle and the hokey filmstrip and the tripe and and and... yeah the best episode ever :-D

(just my humble opinion, of course)

So many to choose from, but the 101 greyhounds one always comes to mind. I can't get over the 'See my vest' song in it ;)

Then again, the 'grinch' parody in the labor union one also makes me giggle insanely.

Eee-Eye-(Annoyed Grunt)

The Tomacco episode.

"I'll make something grow here!" "Not if you're planting gummy worms."

Posted by: bigcb37

My favorite is the one when Springfield goes into prohibition, and Homer becomes the Beer Baron, sneaking alcohol into the town

"Alcohol: the cause of, and solution to, all of lifes problems."

Posted by: Romera

The Cape Feare Episode.

Give me the Sexual harrassment episode. Genius on some many levels.

"No Mr. Simpson...NO!!!!" (dramatization, may not have happened)

"We believe that is Mr. Simpson in the oven. Slowly rotating at 350 degrees. He is literally stewing in his own juices."

No, better than that was Homer playing checkers with the ham—and losing. :D

I think I'll have to side with sschwart on the best song ever....

See my vests, see my vests
Made with real gorilla chest
See my loafers,
Former Gophers!!...

I find myself breaking into that song every now and then......

As far as total episode, I'd have to vote for the prohibition one too
"if we don't come back, avenge our deaths"

I can't pick a favorite overall episode, but I can pick a favorite overall act...the first third of the "Marge's Fear of Flying" episode. That's the one with such gems as "crisitunity," "the old sugar-me-do," "It's Raining Men" getting tossed into Smithers' car, "this lesbian bar doesn't have a fire exit," and the appearance of Guy Incognito.

I'd have to say the monorail episode and Itchy and Scratchy-land eps are my faves. Particularly funny for me as I used to work at Disney in monorails. So they hit home especially well. I love all the little pokes they make toward Disney on the Simpsons.

Boy Scoutz In The Hood. So many good lines:

Homer: "Twenty dollars? I wanted a peanut!"
Homer's Brain: "Twenty dollars can buy lots of peanuts!"
Homer: "Explain how!"
Brain: "Money can be exchanged for goods and services"
Homer: "Woo hoo!"

Homer: "Mmm... Free goo"

Homer: "Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals!... except the weasels.

Ned: You're just in time for "Sponge Bath the Old Folks" Day!

Lisa: "Oh, Bart, cartoons don't have to be 100% realistic!" as Homer walks by the window (at the same time, another Homer is on the couch)

Homer: Shut up brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-tip!

"Like my loafers?
Former Gophers!
It was that, or kill the chauffeurs..."

Favorite episode: Homer tours the Duff beer factory
Favorite line: <Burns referring to Homer>: "Smithers what is the name of this Gastropod?"

You guys have it all wrong! The correct answer is "Treehouse of Horror VII!"

Kang (impersonating Bob Dole): "Abortions for no one!"
Crowd: "Booo!!!"
Kodos (impersonating Bill Clinton): "Very well, abortions for all!"
Crowd: "BOOOO!!!"
Kang: "Very well, abortions for some, tiny american flags for everyone!"
Crowd: "Yaaay!"

---

Kang (Revealed): "It doesn't matter which one of us you vote for! Either way, your planet is doomed! DOOMED!"
Random Guy: "I believe I'll vote for a third party candidate!"
Kodos: "Go ahead! Throw your vote away! HAHAHAHA!"

And the episode is being repeated (at least in my town) this week. Yay!

Cape Fear had one of the funniest sequences ever. Bart is asleep on the boat. All of a sudden a "Jason" like figure comes running in screaming...."HEY BART YOU WANNA SEE MY NEW CHAINSAW AND HOCKEY MASK!!!"

You've got to see my thread on "Favorite Simpson's quotes:
http://ttzforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34616

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal
again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No!
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal!
Homer: Heh heh heh... ooh... yeah... right, Lisa.
A wonderful... magical animal.

I was thinking of mentioning that because it has one of my favorite lines...

Homer: Don't blame me. I voted for Kodos.

Don't know why, but that always cracks me up. That, and the sight of Dole and Clinton floating neeked in space. :p

But I can't really pick a favorite episode. There are so many equally excellent ones. :D

You screwed up my favorite quote!

It's:

Dole: Abortions for all!
Crowd: Boooo!!!!
Dole: Very Well, no abortions for anyone
Crowd: Boooo!!!!
Dole: Hmm, abortions for some, miniature American flags for others
Crowd: Yay!

And then there's more:

Clinton: We must go forward, not backward, upward, not forward and always twirling, twirling, TWIRLING towards freedom.

Dole: The politics of failure have failed. We must make them work again.

One of my favorites is the one where Marge becomes a female bodybuilder. But that's probably because I've met and photographed those women.
I thought the opening of last week's show was one of the best ever, with OJ killing off the kids of South Park and then saying he would look for the real killer. When Marge changes the channel to a religious show the kids run in fear.

I just watched Cape Feare this afternoon, and it does rank right up near the top. Lots of the greatest lines. "I'm cold, and their are wolves after me..." And of course the running rake gag.

My favorite would probably be The Monorail, though. Anytime we can get the entire cast into a song and dance number is great.

Biggest letdown? The newer one where Homer gets his mouth sewn shut. It had so many cool moments, and then just deteriorated into the overly long Popeye impression.

Cape Feare. Quite possibly representing the high point in western culture.

And the greatest sequence in the show,

"OK, When I say, 'Hello Mr. Thompson' and stomp on your foot, you nod your head."
"Check."
"Hello Mr. Thompson" (stomping on Homer's foot).
(Whispering and looking at other FBI agent), "I think he's talking to you."

Sorry for mangling the quotes, but you all know the scene I'm talking about.

Oh great, now I can't get that tune out of my head!

Many of the episodes mentioned are are my faves, but my two favorite scenes are.

1. Don't even know the episode, but I believe Ralph is being picked on, or they don't talk to him and he says "Why doesn't anyone like me", and he spontaneously wets his pants. Funniest TV moment ever.

2. My other favorite is in the lisa's wedding in the future episode, where they invite lisa's British fiance home, and Bart & Homer raise the British flag, which catches on fire, and falls to the ground where they throw dirt on it and stomp it...

Classics.

That was just on last night. It's the episode where Lisa is mistaken by fellow gymnastic school students as being college age. As she's picked up by her college friends (in the VW Cabrio :D) Ralph shows up. Lise hurries away, prompting Ralph's line and subsequent wetting. What makes it extra-funny is the expression of satisfaction on Ralph's face after he is 'relieved'. :p

I wouldn't call it "funniest TV moment ever", but it's good for a belly laugh.

I'm sorry, that's the funniest TV moment ever :)

Or it comes close to a few Curb Your Enthusiasm moments, like the finale of the final episode last year.

-smak-

Posted by: jradosh

I'm sorry, but even within that episode are funnier bits. Like when Lisa gets dropped off by her college friends and Homer is getting drunk and singing along to "Tubthumper"...

"I get knocked down.
I get knocked down again.
I keep getting knocked down again.

I take a whiskey drink.
I take a chocolat drink.
And when I have to pee,
I use the kitchen sink.
I sing a song that's about
a urinating guy..."

That's funny :p

Brush with Greatness, hands-down. With no less than five interconnected story arcs crammed into one show:Plus, it has one of the best closing moments ever:

Burns: Oh, and by the way, thank you for not making fun of my genitalia.
Marge: [sotto voce] I thought I did.

Definitely belongs in the top five episodes. :D
